DH wants me to quit my job

We are in Melbourne.

New role, first week in. It was going to be perfect, 2 days in the office 1 from home, one year fixed term contract.

Dh has been WFH for 2 weeks, we took DC out of school today and he wants us to practice social distancing as much as possible.

I would normally take public transport but could drive.

The thing is, I don't need to work, I want to. But DH is making me feel it's selfish at this time, that I'm not taking it seriously.

I'm thinking after next week I could WFH but maybe not, manager said yesterday they are taking it day by day 🙄. They wanted me in 3 days for a few weeks to train. All head office personnel are working in the office.

Is he right, should I quit and accept I won't be working again for at least 6 months, maybe a year (my industry will be affected, and this role could have been terminated early)

You’re not an appliance, to work or stop working when he presses a button.
If I were you, I’d make damn sure to keep my job.

CappyCapCap · 20/03/2020 05:33

No I dont think you should.

Business can only take it day by day.

We are cycling working from home so only 1 per department is in. I am sure you will find, that as the days go on less people are in and more distancing happens.

Egghead68 · 20/03/2020 05:34

Assuming you and no one in your close family is in a vulnerable group, keep your job but drive in, stay at least 2m from everyone else and start working from home as soon as possible.

Egghead68 · 20/03/2020 05:34

Should read assuming you are NOT in a vulnerable group

Hipsterjoe · 20/03/2020 05:36

I would not stop working, we don’t know what impact this will have long term and if you want to be in work then stay. I’m in Sydney and expect as office workers we’ll be all working from home very soon. Are you in contact with the public?

DroppedBoxxedRuth · 20/03/2020 06:20

I'm not in a vulnerable groupb but DH has asthma and is really worried.

Hipsterjoe no not in contact with the public.

OK so I'm not selfish thinking to go in.
