There is no reason that I need to go into work but I’ve been told to Come to work

I can do it all from home, 100%. I’m a uni lecturer, the students have gone. Even if there’s any left on campus we’re only to offer online support, not see them face to face. I’m doing online teaching and tutorials, marking, lesson prepping, etc.

Even in normal times if I’m not face to face teaching or a meeting I can work from home and often do. All face to face meetings are cancelled. A colleague in the same building has been told she’s got coronavirus and was in work end of last week mixing with plenty of us.

People are exempt if they’re high risk. I’m not but my DD is, so she’s self isolating and what’s the point of I have to go to work?

When asked why have been told it’s because the admin staff have to come in and if they do then we do. Not sure why the admin staff can’t work from home to be honest. All IT systems are accessible remotely.

Tell them you're unable to attend because you are isolating. Really don't go in.

There is too much at stake. Tell a white lie if necessary..

Same boat. I'm an administrator in a secondary school. We've been told everyone is expected in on Monday even though we've been prepping to work from home, I could do all my work from home and I fulfil 2 of the criteria for vulnerability (asthma and high BMI) which means I should be practicing enhanced social distancing.

I've also had whooping cough twice and on one of those occasions a collapsed lung as a result.

I've two extremely vulnerable, elderly parents who have no-one else if I fall I'll.

I'm bloody furious tbh.

I am in the exact same position. I work in a college, we have no classes to teach. Students are to be taught remotely but they say I have to be in the office rather than at home.
I have 2 kids under 7 and my DH is expected to care for them and do his own job too. How???

I am in a similar situation. I can work from home but my line manager is insisting I come in. It makes no sense at all! I work for a council and they are very controlling about staff time. I feel like she doesn’t trust me although I have never given her a reason not to. It goes against all advice issued about unnecessary travelling and mixing! It’s madness!

And Boris is on the news again saying if you can at all work from home please do so. That the only we to take strain off the nhs is to social distance as much as possible and doing so will save lives.

I think it’s very irresponsible.

My daughter has undiagnosed asthma too. She got a virus before feb half term and her chest is still crackling 6/7 weeks later.
Work seem to think that because I teach I will be on this list to say my kids can go to school. But I don't NEED to be in the office so why put my family at risk so I can sit marking work!
