To not know what to do?

Any advice on what I can do would be appreciated.

Husband and I have had to self-isolate since Tuesday as he's been showing signs of COVID-19. We've taken 11yo daughter out of school and 17yo son out of college so all 4 of us are self-isolating.

We have no food in the house. I've used up everything. I've just taken some breaded chicken out of the freezer to cook tonight and thought I had chips in there too but I don't. I also have no potatoes in to make my own.

All delivery slots and click and collect slots are sold out online so I can't get anything delivered to cover us for the next few days. It's saying sold out of slots online and nothing past Thursday next week.

I've heard that the shelves are restocked and there is food in the supermarkets in the mornings but we're not meant to go out, are we?

I do have support from family and friends and they have tried to pick bits up for me but the shelves are bare when they try.

What do I do and how do I feed my family? How are other people coping and getting the supplies they need?

I hope everyone is managing to keep well x

If your family and friends can do this - suggest they go to a little corner shop rather than a big supermarket. Small grocery stores, post offices that keep a couple of aisles of essentials, newsagents etc - they may not have everything in stock, but they will have enough to get a carrier bag of basics enough to feed 4 for a couple of days. Our local supermarkets look like a zombie-apocalypse film-set but the little shop round the corner that we get milk from has loo paper, pasta and tins. The post office 10 minutes away has a freezer full of chips, pizzas and other convenience foods and a couple of fridges with fresh stuff, as well as an aisle of tins.

Book the first available grocery slot however far in the future that may be, and in the meantime, work out how many times you need a family member or friend to do a little corner-shop run and arrange the days that they will each do this - don't give them a list unless there's something you can't do without, just ask them for a lucky dip of whatever they can find at whatever small shop they find that has stock. You'll have a kind of weird diet for a couple of weeks but that is survivable.

Get on Facebook. Very many areas have community groups google coronavirus virus and your location or check your MPs facebook. Our local site is keeping track of whete has food and the independent shops you wouldnt think of offering food delivery

I asked 3 or 4 people to grab us a few bits - anything they could get. Between them they managed to compile enough for us to feed ourselves. We have had a few odd meals though

Make a phone call or get on Facebook to ask for help. If you go out and one of you has the virus you'll spread it which is unfair on the community.

The only way this will slow down is if people isolate. Just going to the shop for one or two things is an absolute no.
