Flights from Australia?

Just curious if anyone knows if flights from Australia to U.K. will be allowed to leave as normal? I have close family in Melbourne at the moment and wondered how this might effect them, due home in early April.

It depends on which airline they're flying. Qanatas announced today that they're cancelling all international services from the end of March. Australia have also announced today that they were closing their border for inbound passengers (with some exceptions), so it could be that the other airlines such as Emirates, Singapore, Qatar etc decide that it's no longer worthwhile flying there. If I were your family I'd be trying to get back to the UK ASAP or else risk being there for the duration.

They should call their airline immediately and seek advice/ideally try to bring forward their return flight.

Do you usually live in Australia op? If not I'd stay home (wherever that is) if I were you op.

Best of luck btw.

Friends are flying back to UK from Australia today and things seem OK as far as I know.
But it's been a stressful time for them wondering if they'd be stranded. Their flights have changed a few times over past week and then changed back. At one point they were told they'd have a 12 hour stopover.
Your family members should try to leave ASAP.

Thanks everyone, we're all british but family are with Australian relatives. Their flights are with emirates so no cancellations yet. Will try and get them to leave asap!
