Genuinely interested in others views, but in all honesty I have little to no confidence in the handling of this - they should have acted sooner, with more rigour; everything is advisory; they keep syaing the science has changed (no it bloody didn't!!) and the mantra of 'we will do whatever it takes' may make me throw things at the tv if I hear it again!!!

In many ways I'm disappointed (too little, too late) but at the same time I don't know the ins and outs, and I concede these are seriously difficult times.

My main annoyances are that everything is advisory. Lots of people aren't listening. The announcements we get are full of basically fluff. Compare UK gov announcements with that of Leo Varadkar or Nicola Sturgeon. It's absolutely night and day. It's clear, concise wording compared with waffling as far I'm concerned.

The other thing.... there is lots (if not ALL) focus on business. I understand our economy is in the shitter. We are likely heading for a depression. But at the same time, headlines like Virgin Atlantic needing BILLIONS of gov money, when many people are unsure how they're going to feed their families next month is frankly disgusting. I understand there are lots or VA employees, but you could literally give everyone of them 2 years salary for the money he's asking for.

This has exposed how many companies have been run terribly. I run a small business. Micro business, probably. High 5 figures a year. I have 6 months contingency savings. A lot of self-employed people do, because we know the good times don't last forever and a rainy day could be around the corner. These big businesses that have had 2 weeks worth of interruption and are now billions in the hole, where TF is their contingency?

It seems like once again we'll be relying on "trickledown" economics, rather than putting money into the hands of people who will actually spend it.

The problem is many aren’t following the “advice” and will carry on as normal until anything is enforced.

I think there will be a major change in direction today. The figures are not looking good. I think the government have given the population the opportunity to alter their behaviour voluntarily but it is very obvious they are unable to accept this responsibility or take the situation seriously.
We can’t be trusted to help ourselves so we will see lockdown very soon.
