Son with fever for 4 days- concern of being overlooked

My son is 1. He's had a fever since Monday- temp around 37.8 most of the time then a couple of spikes to 38.2 usually around midnight.

My concern is his history. He was in hospital with a bacterial infection and endocarditis in January. He's still under cardiology there and we have a follow up with them on Monday.
I have rang gp and they are calling me back but reception advised they will probably advise to call 111 due to fever.

Now. He has a kebsiella pneumoni ESBL colonisation (they think on his skin) which basically if this causes and infection somewhere else it's resistant to a lot of antibiotics.
He has had dodgy poo's for a few days too and a chesty cough but only first thing in the morning and late at night.

I have been remaining calm so far but as it's day 4 and the temp hasn't gone I'm starting to worry. I'm worried that due to current virus issues he may have an infection but no one will see him and he'll be left too late.

We were fobbed off in January as viral then he was admitted for a month. So my head is all over the place.
I know chances are it's nothing serious. But chances being minimal failed us last time and everything they said was highly unlikely came back positive.

What can I do? At what point to I really worry about his fever still being present? 5/6/7 days?
I get the mess the health services are dealing with now, but it doesn't mean other Illnesses stop existing.

Can you call the cardiology department or email them so that the cardiologist can consider your information and advise accordingly.

It’s good that you are due to be seen on Monday but letting them know he has a fever now seems sensible and his cardiologist could decide that given your son’s previous history he should be tested for COVID 19 or be seen as a matter of urgency to rule out any flare up of endocarditis.

Do u not have a paediatric cardiology nurse?

My baby has a partial avsd so under paeds cardiology and I have a direct line to specialist nurse team....

@PrayingandHoping
We don't unfortunately. They are thinking this appt Monday will be his last and then discharged as the infection had cleared and the effusion was almost completely gone. I suppose I could ring the outpatient department about his appt Monday and ask them to speak to the cardiologist.

He's under Infectious diseases and immunology still too but that appt isn't for another few weeks.

Ask to speak to your GP today and get them to liase with the paediatric team for you - don’t wait till Monday x

@chevronrosie
Thanks- I'm waiting for a call back from GP but feel like I'm just waiting round to get fobbed off.
It's mad, because I was made to feel like THAT parent when I first took him to A&E and got sent home. Back 2 days later to start a month king nightmare. And I haven't even spoke to anyone yet and I already feel like THAT parent again.

We went to A&E yesterday after speaking with an infection control nurse. She advised this due to his history. He had bloods and urine sample taken. Urine was fine but sent for a culture.
Bloods were ok his CRP was 20 which ID said was 'reassuringly low' and were to go back tomorrow if he still has a fever.
Trying not to worry. But it was just 38.6 half an hour ago. Had calpol seems better now and is eating but I can't help but worry. Don't want to end up back there ☹️
