I have seen this test online, any thoughts? Could not get tested with NHS, despite symptoms. Have relatives who need support / care or who are vulnerable and would really help to know if had had it.

it's £160 delivered and won't be shipped til 31st march. If you have money to burn go for it

I don't think it's about the money to burn.

It's about workers being able to test and go back to work and earn money!!

The actual test is around £14? I believe

Orangeblossom78 · 19/03/2020 10:52

Wish the test was more widely available, e.g. to carers etc

How effective are they? Some of the quick tests are only 80% reliable.
The food factory where DH works have access to labs that can test for this, but I doubt they can test the many thousands of workers, it’s a massive company producing 40% of UK cheese.

TooTrueToBeGood · 19/03/2020 10:55

What's the point? If you test negative, as you most likely will, you could still pick up the virus the next day. Are you going to bankrupt yourself buying a kit every day for the next few months?

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 19/03/2020 10:59

What's the point?

I have someone vulnerable in my family. I think we have all had it. If I can confirm this then I can work in A&E frontline without having to worry about bringing it home - because it's already been here.

Orangeblossom78 · 19/03/2020 10:59

Well, if you test positive for antibodies, and are feeling better and finished time of self isolating, then you would be able to help others without worrying about catching it and passing it on.

As the PM said yesterday, like a 'green light' going on.

It is a worrying thought if the results aren't accurate and might give people the 'green light' wrongly, indeed.
