Worried about not going to work

Hi, I've had a slightly tickly cough for around 4 days. Have been going into work because that basically was the only thing wrong and a tickly cough isn't described as a symptom. My place of work are very much a carry on kind of place where everyone thinks you are pulling a fast one if you take any time off. Anyway I have been up all night as cough got a bit worse and my throat was obviously aggravated by it so this morning am feeling quite rubbish, no temp but tired tickly /sore throat but cough has calmed down. This is not usually something I would stay home from work with but I am so worried that it could be cv and I could pass it on. I feel in reasonably good health other than the tickly cough and sore throat. My husband thinks I am being a drama queen and insists it isn't the virus and tbh I am pretty sure it's not but as I'm not able to be tested can I be sure? I have called into work to ask advice as to what to do and basically been told that although it does sound like a seasonal cold I should prob isolate although they sounded a bit put out. My husband is now saying he doesnt think I have it and have overreacted and what if I get it after this and need to then actually take time off and I'm now sat here wondering shall I just get ready and go in, I feel so guilty. It's worth pointing out I haven't been off sick for at least 3 years. Am I overreacting and should I have gone in?

Self isolation is the only weapon we have in the community to try and fight CV, apart from wishing our hands, until they decide to widen the testing. So until then, Anyone who shows a new cough and or a fever must stay at home. Considering how many people test positive and are asymptomatic in other countries, some will show incredibly minor symptoms in this country. I'm a HCP and taking my temp twice a day and monitoring for a cough. When it happens I will be off for 2 weeks unless testing is more widespread and it can be proven its just my hay-fever causing the cough

I've been off this week, self-isolating with a cough. I did have some breathlessness and have had some achiness but that's it. I otherwise feel well. It's frustrating, but I would stay off. That's the official guidance.

Thank you everyone. I am going to isolate for the next week. I am starting to feel less guilty at having the time off. I know I would feel much worse if I went in and someone got really ill afterwards. Hope you all get through this rubbish time ok.
