AIBU to plan a fun expedition for Q-day

We are on day #3 of family self isolation. day #15 is Q-day, the day we are allowed out of this quarantine again.

I reckon that on Q-day, we should be one of the safest families around. If any of us had coronavirus, we should have shown symptoms by then.

So on Q-day, we should be good to visit the grandparents (travelling in our own car) or go out to cafes (if they are open) or organise playdates for the kids or something.

Obviously I realise we might get exposed and need to go back to quarantine later, but at least we can be sure we aren't harming anyone else.

right?

I suppose theoretically yes but by then there might not be much to go to! We're on day 3, solidarity!

Another pet that thinks they are an exception, no wonder the Government want to bring the army in when there are people like you out there.

The Government said "no unnecessary socialising" play dates fall into this category.

Nobody said that people can start going out and living as normal after the 14 days isolation. As soon as you go out you are putting yourselves at risk of being infected.

Spam88 · 19/03/2020 09:50

Well no, because unless you've been tested you don't actually know you've had COVID-19.

I'm sorry to say that everyone needs to start realising that this is like an outbreak of war more than anything else. Normal life is NOT going to be resumed anytime soon.
It's horrible but your children will cope better if you hold the burden of the distress.

spam - whether I've had it or not, on day 15 I can be pretty sure that I do not have it. If I had caught CV before the quarantine, it should have shown up or resolved itself without symptoms.

By day 16, I might have it and will go back to being socially isolated and obedient. but that one day is surely the best chance to actually get out of the house?

I guess you would still need to practice social distancing etc in order to avoid catching C-19 on your day out?

Maxhiggins · 19/03/2020 10:07

Glad its not just me that things this is nuts. OHs ex is currently planning a party for SS but having it outdoors instead of soft play. I am keeping my own counsell on the matter

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 19/03/2020 10:09

Even if you didn't have it, you need to practice social distancing. You can go for a walk, keeping 2m away from anyone outside your immediate family. That's it.

If you visit the grandparents, how do you know they don't have it and could then infect you?

crazydiamond222 · 19/03/2020 10:13

It would be very irresponsible to do this. It you caught it you would be increasing pressure on the nhs at an extremely stretched time. Please don't.

RedRed9 · 19/03/2020 10:18

The thing is, you could go to a play date/café in the morning and pick up the virus then take it round to the grandparents in the afternoon.

As soon as you leave your home you need to practice social distancing.

RedRed9 · 19/03/2020 10:19

Social distancing and self isolation are two different things: your self isolation will end but the social distancing will still be need to be followed.
