Are we allowed out for walks, to outdoor playgrounds etc?

Sorry for the stupid question. I have 4 disabled dc (asd, learning difficulties) 1 dc who has mild asthma. 3 are off school now as the primary school have requested all children with a sahp stay home now. Older 2 finish secondary school tomorrow afternoon.

If we have no symptoms of coronavirus are we allowed to go out for walks or to parks/outdoor playgrounds? Obviously we will stick to house/garden if we need to but my youngest in particular could do with a daily good long walk otherwise he won't sleep before midnight. He has already thumped, pinched, scratched and bitten me this morning.

It's encouraged. As long as your not going to busy play areas. All national trust places have stopped charging for entry and car parking for the time being. Cafes and visitors centres will be closed but with everyone being stuck indoors we need fresh air. I'm pregnant so working from home for 12 weeks but I'm spending my lunch breaks walking around the block and on the weekends will be hiking. Just remember to wash your hands when your home and take a picnic.

open spaces are supposed to be fine for walking but playgrounds and parks seem to be a different matter. there may be other kids there touching stuff

Yes! Absolutely!

Parks/swings etc no. Open spaces, woods etc where you can ensure a safe distance is encouraged. Dd would go bananas if she was stuck inside for days at a time!

Thankyou so much. We'll get walking.

Yes walking in quiet open places is OK but I wouldn’t go anywhere things can be touched e.g play parks with metal and plastic stuff

I live right next to a country park in London which is always relatively quiet. I've never been so grateful for it and will be going for daily walks with the kids.

Please just make sure you stay distanced from others, don't let the kids go up to other people or their dogs etc. I saw a family out on a walk yesterday and recalled my dog back. She came, but a mum let her three kids come running up to us, they only 'wanted to say hello to the dog'. I'm six months pregnant and doing my best to socially distance, and I am really hoping this won't be an everyday occurrence with the schools now shut. I don't want to have to tell other people's children off, but will if I have to Sad
