To be bloody scared!

Hi

More a ‘am I being silly’ thread tbh.

But, this virus is really starting to scare me. All the shops and restaurants around me are starting to close one by one, it’ll not be long until they are all closed.

Life just seems so weird at the minute, it’s good to stay positive but this is horrendous.

DS’ college has closed indefinitely and he is worried about how he will get his exams if he can’t sit them this summer. It’s hard to see him so stressed over it as he’s worried he’ll have to go back a year or whatever.

Does anyone feel the same way?

I’ll feel marginally better when they enforce social distancing

Yeap i am a bit scared mainly because i am asthmatic so really don't want to catch it .I work in community care and i am seeing some very scared elderly people that i care for it is all over the news and it is bloody terrifying them and they need reassurance.I have to be postive for them they can't have me going in scared and worried .They need a friendly reassuring face and that's what they see .It is going be a bloody tough time but if we all look after each other and stand strong we will get through .

I think many people in many countries are scared. It's a very strange and alienating situation. Even a couple of weeks ago seems like a different planet. This is pretty much unprecedented, it's a pandemic and unfortunately, things are likely to get much worse before they get better. Fear is an understandable reaction.

It will pass. It just needs everyone to do their bit to minimise the impact on the whole community. It will be scary for a while but just hunker down and wait it out. It is just a few weeks/ months ( hopefully) out of our lives where everyone just needs to think about others and do the right thing.

Would like to add that we as a family have been mainly isolating since the start of the week because dh is badly asthmatic. It's not easy , the teenagers don't like not seeing their friends ( thank god for social media). Then I hear from a ' friend' who is just carrying on as normal, going to a St Patrick's day party in a crowded pub etc and I'm fuming because this social distancing ( and ultimately lock down) is something that everyone needs to adhere to for it to work.

I'm scared. I think everyone is. Things are so weird, we don't know much about CV or how to stop it, and we don't know how long this will last. I have a OH who has chronic kidney disease and an elderly mum who is refusing to isolate or stop going on buses to the shops. All we can do is keep going and distract ourselves as much as possible.
