What about the y10s who were entered for a GCSE this year?

It’s been the fashion for a while for many schools to choose options in y8 and study the curriculum for 3 years. Some schools have taken that a step further and entered y10 children for a GCSE to get one “out of the way” this is the case for my children’s school we’re they do Eng Lit early

After watching the Ed secretary on BBC I’m confused if dd will get a grade this year or if the exam will be lumped on to next?

I doubt she’ll get a grade unlike year 1-s she doesn’t need one. She’ll sit it next year along with the rest of her GCSEs.

I thought increasingly fewer schools were doing early entry. I wonder whether this might end the practice for good.

That should be year 11s

I think the best answer for Y10s is to sit it alongside the others next year.

Most schools stopped early entry. The only ones I know who still do itnare those who do maths/FM sequentially rather than concurrently.

OTOH, as an entered candidate, you couid argue that she should be treated in the same way as all other entered candidates. The announcement on arrangements is tomorrow, so perhaps that will, bring clarity on which way it'll go

Don’t forget though the curriculum is delivered completely differently when they choose to do this way, they learn nothing but lit in y9 and y10 then only start Lang summer y10 then y11. so putting lit back into the mix in y11 would be v difficult

Which is why I’m hoping it’ll finally end the practice. The school really only have themselves to blame here.

I’d be more worried about the language in your situation tbh. I think schools are unlikely to be back before September. So they’ve left themselves just over 2 terms to teach a 2 year course.

If anyone knows of any good teach yourself GCSE Eng Lang resources I’m all ears

Try asking I’m the secondary education section.

I think it’s more likely to be seen by people who can help with that. Hopefully the school will be sorting some resources too.
