Dd (10) goes to a tutor once a week for an hour. She emailed today to say she is still tutoring. I feel we should stop to minimise the risk but not sure what others think?

She is probably desperate for the money.

Could you skype instead?

troppibambini · 19/03/2020 08:00

We've stopped the tutor group my dd goes to but are still doing the one to one session for now.
Our tutor is also a friend and really needs the money so for now I'm happy to continue,

Somethingsosimple · 19/03/2020 08:01

I was wondering that too. She is a full time teacher too so not her main income

In that case, stop the tutoring. She’ll have her teacher salary.

theanswerisnoo · 19/03/2020 08:03

She may not have her salary going forward. Relative ( on full time contract) it going to be told today whether she is needed. If not whether she is going to be paid.

PurpleDaisies · 19/03/2020 08:04

A teacher relative?

Soontobe60 · 19/03/2020 08:08

A teacher on a full time contract will still be paid whether they are in work or not.
I'm a tutor and will be cancelling my sessions this week until schools return. I don't know where the children I tutor will have been, who they've been in close contact with and vice versa.

theanswerisnoo · 19/03/2020 20:10

Purple daisies. Yes. A teacher relative. She has today been told she will be paid.

theanswerisnoo · 19/03/2020 20:12

The issue was (now resolved) her school is staying open for key workers children, but she wouldn't be able to go in because she has her own children whose nursery has closed leaving her with no childcare.

niffynoonoo · 19/03/2020 20:12

she could skype etc.

PurpleDaisies · 19/03/2020 20:13

There had never been any question that teachers in England will be paid.

HarrietThePi · 19/03/2020 20:15

I'd ask her if she can move to Skype or similar.

theanswerisnoo · 19/03/2020 20:17

Purple daisies read my latest post. My relative was genuinely frantic yesterday for the reason set out ion my last post as her school hadn't been able to confirm she would be paid despite being prevented from doing in to teach the kids that will still be going in. Position was only clarified tonight so how you knew the position all along is quite a feat!

EndoplasmicReticulum · 19/03/2020 20:18

I'm a private tutor. I moved to online teaching last week otherwise I am not following guidelines given to reduce contact. Although most of my current students are year 11 and 13 so likely to lose them all.
