Will people appreciate the life they have.
Will spending habits change
Will people be less materialistic
Will they be grateful for the freedom they currently enjoy
Will people stop abusing the nhs
Alot of people say teenagers dont know they are born and the privileges they have. I defianately didn't and I probably dont even now. Will their mindset change
I'm hoping to put a positive spin on a terrible situation. No one in our life time has ever experienced anything like this.
Obviously if people lose loved ones life will never be the same again for them.
The people who are mildly affected but have had their lives turned upside down over the next few months, will it change your behaviours in future

I really hope there is some kind of big push to protect and boost the NHS after this, but people swiftly forget.

GCAcademic · 19/03/2020 07:49

I doubt it. I think we will emerge from this into a very different world to the one that is now shutting down around us, but people will be the same selfish shits that they always were.

Whatishappening098 · 19/03/2020 07:51

I hope not. It's been making me sick the people fighting over stuff in supermarkets. It really has got me thinking how as a nation we have no morals whatsoever.

I was hoping it would teach people to care for themselves more and not go to the doctor for every minor little thing.
Also, I hope it teaches people to be more hygienic. I was out last week with someone who changed a shitty nappy and then sat down and started eating before saying "oh I better wash my hands actually with all this Corona stuff going on".. it's opened my eyes to a lot of people who don't routinely wash hands at the very basic times - let alone in a pandemic. That's surely got to change!!

KeepYourWigOn · 19/03/2020 07:54

I hope all the "I have anxiety - I'm freaking out" posters will have discovered their inner strength.

DianaT1969 · 19/03/2020 07:57

People talk about fighting in the supermarkets. I have been most days and people are being friendly and more considerate in their behaviour (inner London). Currently in a long, orderly queue and everyone is maintaining distance.

FaithInfinity · 19/03/2020 07:59

It’s a nice idea but I doubt it. I suspect this will be used as evidence to show that the NHS isn’t fit for purpose.

ohcarriemathison · 19/03/2020 08:09

I don't think so.
I think things will just return to how they were.
I agree that this will be the death of the NHS as we know it.
The cynic in me feels this is sort of Boris and Cronies plan.

Part not sort

I think that's quite a sweeping statement - don't forget the media mostly tends to report the negative stuff. I've seen community groups popping up everywhere to help more vulnerable people who can't get out and shop. Many people are offering their time and money to help elderly neighbours and not everybody is stockpiling. Of course there are some people who are only out for themselves, that will never change unfortunately but I wouldn't say that's the majority at all. I definitely wouldn't say that as a nation we have no morals whatsoever!

bobstersmum · 19/03/2020 08:18

My lovely mil only got the all clear from lung cancer last year, has poor mobility (which is obvious as she uses mobility scooter) and also copd, she was in a shop yesterday and reached to get the last toilet roll pack when some twat swiftly grabbed it first. I think as a nation if that's how we behave then we're fucked.
I personally will be so grateful when this is over, this has changed my outlook on everything, I'm going to appreciate everything.

Whatishappening098 · 19/03/2020 08:27

Yorkshirepud1 yes you are right. I was generalizing too much I've just been shocked at some people. It is a minority but it has made a big impact

I hope some things change when this crisis is all over. I certainly think people will appreciate the little things in life more and perhaps, in future, always make sure they have - not a stock pile exactly - but plenty of tins, toiletries and toilet rolls in their homes. Being able to go out and about freely will definitely be nice after a period of seclusion. Hopefully those on their own will have learned to be content with their own company and maybe found ways to be useful.

We live in hope.

Feels like at some point, the reset button is going to be pressed and what emerges is going to be a totally different place. The high street for a start is going to be decimated, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops will be gone.
