Probably a silly question but...

Are we all going to cut our children's hair? Mine are needing their haircut and won't last for 12 weeks without needing it cut out of their eyes. They're going to look terrible if I do it! Is anyone else in the same predicament?!

I know it's the least of our worries with deaths and supermarket shortages because of the bloody stockpilers, but it is a practical point that I'm feeling a bit helpless over!

One of my boys has the sort of hair that shows every single cut, and you wouldn't want to attempt it if you really weren't sure. My other child has lovely textured hair that I'd be more confident having a go with, but it's not a time to be experimenting with the poor things is it?!

What's everyone else intending to do?!

Yes it's a silly question. I'm about to go to work to try to help figure out how we're going to provide palliative care in the community. Your child's hair getting a bit long isn't an issue - honestly

midgebabe · 19/03/2020 07:44

I think you I'll have plenty of time to get good at it

MrsMozartMkII · 19/03/2020 07:47

Clips and tie it back.

Either that or YouTube how to cut and give it a go. At least it'll grow out and he can get to a hairdressers in x weeks time.

It's exactly the right time - it will have grown out by the time they're back at school!

LoveNursing · 19/03/2020 07:49

I'm not allowed to voice a practical concern because, what, you want me to worry about your palliative care instead?

I said know it's the least of our worries with deaths and supermarket shortages because of the bloody stockpilers, but that it's a practical point I'm feeling a bit helpless over!

What I didn't say because I wasn't expecting to get jumped on is it's largely because I haven multiple sclerosis and my bloody hands don't work properly. I can't even open a packet of crisps and my coordination is shot.
So I'm sorry I dared voice my concern and not sit here worrying about yours instead!

i did think about this. my adult child with disabilitys was due a haircut. it will get very wild.....but at least she has grown out her fringe.

SoupDragon · 19/03/2020 07:54

Think of it as a right of passage - having photos of a dodgy haircut as a child is surely compulsory? I certainly laugh at the one where my mum cut my fringe just before school photo day

Actually, if you leave them unsupervised with scissors (child friendly ones still cut hair) they may well sort it themselves.

ShirleyPhallus · 19/03/2020 07:57

This is exactly the right time

I’ve just fake tanned my DH cos he was complaining about being pale and we don’t have anywhere else to be for the foreseeable

LoveNursing · 19/03/2020 07:57

I just had a "silver lining" thought while I did my hair. A few months at home would be a great time to try a natural deodorant and grow out my hair dye.

Don't forget that Trump has proved fake tan is an effective barrier to the virus 👍🏻
