I'm feeling really overwhelmed

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and so far have been really level headed. However the escalation over the last few days has really scared me.

I'm attached 3 days a week and my son goes to a childminder. Yesterday I worked from home after dropping him off and it was amazing, I could go at my own pace eat when I needed to and I felt like I could make it all work. But now school and childminder are both closing I'm expected to teach 110 kids remotely and look after my 18 month old. I dont know how in going to do both.

Sorry. I know everyone is in a similar boat I just feel like I have 2 jobs suddenly and I dont know how it's going to work.

People won’t be expecting perfection. You can do this!

Spinakker · 19/03/2020 06:48

Sorry to hear this, there must be another child minder available ?

Seventyone72seventy3 · 19/03/2020 06:49

That sounds really tough. I am teaching three days a week too but my kids are older so they can (more or less) entertain themselves when I am online. I don't know what to suggest but you have my sympathies. Try not to get overwhelmed and accept that you don't have to be perfect at it - this is new for a lot of people and they are probably just glad you are making an effort.

Thanks everyone.

My CM has said she wants to stay open if she can but as she understood it last night she would have to close. She was as upset as I am!

My teacher friend is in Hong Kong with a 5 and 18 month year old and has been at home for 7 weeks teaching. She said its a pain with kids but benefits too. She said she is not at all organised at mo as school and kids schedules are bonkers. This is coming from a super organised person. I think lowering your expectations and just focus on basics.

I think teachers might be in the list of key workers, so yours might be given some schooling Flowers

keentohelp · 19/03/2020 07:33

Fed up- sadly I don't think that's the case unless OP is a single parent or her OH is also a key worker.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 19/03/2020 09:02

No DH isnt a key worker and is the only one of us earning any reasonable money so the childcare will have to come down to me
