We're allowed to go out for walks?

Obviously I won't be meeting up with friends, but as long as we aren't symptomatic (so not self isolation) can we go out for walks?

I have 5 kids that will be off school and I think they'll kill each other if we can't got out for an hour or two in the country side?!

@cherrypavlova you as an alleged confirmed case going out for walks while us unconfirmed cases are in self isolation is a mockery.

CherryPavlova · 21/03/2020 18:45

I can see why you might think that but then you’d have to see where I walk to understand how I’m not putting anyone at risk. Far from it. More risk putting your bin out in a detached house in a town.
Don’t ever go within half a mile minimum of anyone else.

Alsohuman · 21/03/2020 18:47

Why? She’s clearly stated she never even sees anybody else.

OnlyTheLangoftheTitBerg · 21/03/2020 20:16

Cherry I’m afraid what you are saying simply doesn’t add up. The timescales, the circumstances of why you were tested... none of it. I work in public health, for the record. I know what’s (not) happening with testing.

CherryPavlova · 21/03/2020 20:22

If you say so OnlyTheLangoftheTitBerg

missyB1 · 21/03/2020 20:25

Well my dog has to be walked so yes I’m going out for walks. We have lots of places we can go to that aren’t too busy luckily. Our town is surrounded by countryside so as long as i keep a safe distance from other dog walkers it should be fine.

OnlyTheLangoftheTitBerg · 21/03/2020 20:25

I certainly do.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 21/03/2020 20:29

Seems kinda strange you had a positive test “last Friday” when last Friday you were posting on here, claiming to be on a train to London and highly unlikely to catch and spread Covid due to your “lifestyle”.

Kinda seems like you were either talking nonsense then, or talking nonsense now.

Hope you feel better either way. Really no idea what you’re getting out of posting here. I’d be so uncomfortable.

I thought walks were allowed so long as not self isolating and not with anyone?
I live by my own, I regularly walk 10+ miles when off work (especially as everywhere closed now so cannot go to gym, or community centre etc)
I lucky in that nearly all my walking is coastal cos I live on an island. It is quite a populated island though, so did see a few people whilst out walking today but everyone kept their distance - no breathing anywhere near me
Some, times I drive to next town, park up and walk into town to get a few essentials. Might do that tomorrow. I only eat certain things, and some shops are only in the next town. I make sure I keep social distancing though cos that the rule now. I not allowed to see any friends or family or anything. It very hard and walking outside does my brain good
Today I walked all the coastal way down to Tesco and was over the moon cos they let me have two tins of beans that are a certain brand the only ones I eat. They was really kind. I been avoiding supermarkets cos everyone saying how bad they are, but although Tesco not got much, it was not very busy in there
I think I still walk cos I not actually seeing anyone or meeting anyone or anything. It really lonely Sad

specific role gave priority access [to testing without any symptoms]

If you say so.

Must be super critical as round here a week ago an A&E consultant and an ITU nurse were not being tested after exposure.

I'm only surprised as you have previously stressed that you do most of your work from home and my colleagues working with NHS leadership in logistics and planning and the ministers office have all been working remotely to avoid adding to the burden.

Unless of course you are presenting to select committees which have antiquated Westminster processes although as far as I know they are not held in hospitals.

Crunchymum · 22/03/2020 00:32

Tut, tut @CP

It's one thing to tell wee porkies about the village. Quite another thing to "elaborate" about Covid:19

BunnytheBee · 22/03/2020 00:36

I was out for a walk today and it’s fairly rural and open where I am so should be enough space to keep a distance but I came across a group (family?) of about 5-6 people spread across the way and none of them thought to stay to one side so as to keep distance and I couldn’t avoid as their child was a bit closer to me than I’d like.

So OP if you are going for a walk as 5 take care that you and your children leave a safe distance from other people who might be out.

ScarlettBlaize · 22/03/2020 07:38

@CherryPavlova

Plus I’m coming out of isolation shortly, so probably much lower risk than anyone else

What???

A relative of my husband tested positive over three weeks ago after skiing in italy.
He is STILL in isolation as you have to have three negative tests a few days apart.

Why would you be 'coming out of isolation shortly' if you had a positive test ONE WEEK ago??

National Trust gated gardens and parks are closed.

"From midnight on 21 March the National Trust will close all of its gated gardens and parks to help restrict the spread of the coronavirus.

...

At the start of this week the conservation charity announced that despite closing its houses, shops and cafes, it would work to keep gardens and parks open so people could access open space. However, the Trust warned that a fair weather forecast and Mothering Sunday could tempt people onto the roads over the weekend and National Trust sites would close if high demand meant social distancing could not be enforced."

Mominatrix · 22/03/2020 08:13

Good move on the the National Trust's part. I walk my dog every day and the upsurge in wankers in the parks over the past week has been sobering. Families meeting up for social time outside and not keeping an appropriate distance apart, pathways so crowded that people are too close to each other. I need to get the walk finished by 8am now to avoid the assholes and am completely avoiding the parks for the noon walk.

People are going to have to have all of their civil liberties taken away because they are abusing the system with their selfishness.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/03/2020 08:13

Some posters spout such a load of nonsense on here.

YouStupidBoy · 22/03/2020 08:14

I am still going out running and walking as per usual. I live rurally and rarely see another soul when I am out, I saw a couple last weekend about 100yards away in a small village I ran through so very easy to avoid. Added to this, 5 days per week my running is done starting around 0400 - 0430 depending upon how far I want to go and I have only once in many years encountered anyone else at this time!!!
