After School/Holiday clubs

Will Holiday clubs (the type that function as a breakfast club/after school and also school holiday clubs) have to close as per the schools?

Wondering if they would still be able to provide some kind of childcare for what was the Easter hols, in small numbers.

No

ChrissieKeller61 · 18/03/2020 22:48

As in no not available everything is closed

My DC will remain at school due to me being a 'keyworker'. They usually attend breakfast and afterachool club. I dont imagine the teachers will be extending school hours for those clubs too (and wouldnt expect them to tbh)

cheeseandcrackers · 18/03/2020 22:51

I am expecting them to all close but any school providing care for children of key workers who can't work from home will surely have to be open 8-6 every day and throughout the holidays too.

DrSheldonCooperPHD · 18/03/2020 22:51

They'll be shut

Qwerty543 · 18/03/2020 22:52

Ours are definitely shut.

Redlocks28 · 18/03/2020 22:55

We are having frantic meetings this evening to plan what it’s going to look like.

After school and breakfast clubs will not be part of that package.

I am pretty sure that won’t be the case.

What do you normally do from 8-6 throughout the holidays?

Nostrings457 · 18/03/2020 23:22

^ school holiday clubs are often 8/8.30 until 5.30/6 depending on where you are

Oh, fair enough. No school I have ever taught in has had any care during the holidays so I wasn’t sure how it worked.

Notso · 18/03/2020 23:52

The one at our school is going to be running as holiday club prioritising parents who are key workers.

housepicturesqueclub · 19/03/2020 00:13

Is that run within the school?

Some are completely separate from the school grounds.

OP posts:
Notso · 19/03/2020 00:17

It's on the school but privately run. The free breakfast club is shut.

Notso · 19/03/2020 00:18

In not on school

RubixCubix · 19/03/2020 00:47

parent) but can't afford to get sick either Sad

Piixxiiee · 19/03/2020 00:59

Surely for key worker children only? My children go to a friends and a private nursery before and after school. I'm a key worker. Friend wonr take them as her kids will be off. Private nursery is shutting.... school will have to take them if they want me to work.

Redlocks28 · 19/03/2020 07:40

school will have to take them if they want me to work.

As I said upthread, we are sorting out staffing now for our key workers. It will be normal school hours only-for key workers, vulnerable and those with EHC plans.

housepicturesqueclub · 19/03/2020 09:10

I'll ask our after school club what they are doing tonight when I go. Our school sent out an email at 11.30pm last night, guess they were working extremely late trying to make plans for next week, must be awful.

I know someone who does this role as part of her job and so far she is still gearing up to run holiday club as normal and not just for those in the front line services. So I don't think its a clear cut decision across all schoos.

duckduckgoosealbatross · 19/03/2020 09:31

It needs to be sorted out as having provision 9-3.30 term time only is not going to support key workers. I'm NHS, but am extremely fortunate that DH can work from home. Normally we rely on holiday clubs that open 8-6 as annual leave nowhere near covers all the school holidays. Without that childcare key workers will not be able to do their jobs properly Confused

housepicturesqueclub · 19/03/2020 10:34

@pleasestopcrying interesting, will check with ours, would be good if our 2 could go 1 day a week in the hols, for a change of scene and some normality, it's always low numbers in the hols anyway, and would be supporting a small business.
