I'm self isolating. I have a child with a cough. But I'm surprised at the actions of others I know. People I know to be educated and sensible yet they seem to not be taking every precaution. Made me wonder if I'm being hysterical.

So a friend of mine, a gp, is off to visit her parents at the weekend with her husband and 3 year old. Her parents are mid to late 60s. They live 5 hours apart. Will travel by car and stay the weekend. I'm just a bit Hmm Is it just me? I'm not a gp exposed to many bugs over past few weeks, but if I wasn't in isolation I still would not be visiting my parents.... Or is it fine... Because my friends parents are not over 70?? Maybe I'm hysterical Confused

There's a big difference between intelligence and common sense, sadly. You are being sensible.

My BIL is an A&E doctor and told me it was fine for two households to visit each other as long as each were social distancing as much as possible and not mixing with anyone else. As in DH, DD and I are currently self isolating and my DM and 2 siblings are also self isolating, so we could still visit as long as none of them were in a high risk group.

I was surprised to hear it from him, but my husband's best friend is also a doctor and said the same thing.

Not sure I will anyway.

I understand that scenario... Both families isolating... Can kind of understand that but still only if essential... But a gp... Seeing lots of people, unwell people daily?? Surely not a good idea...
