Viral Wheeze and inhaler - Is this classed as one of the groups to self isolate?

For the past two years I have been prescribed a blue inhaler to use, mainly over the Winter months, as I get a viral wheeze. I had a lung function test around 6 months ago that showed I had mild asthma. Is this in the category of people to self isolate as a precaution? Can't speak to a GP until Monday but will also do the online 111 form. I work in a local authority face to face role so feel I am more vulnerable to catching the virus and am beginning to get anxious as someone had a hacking cough very close to me today. Anyone else with a similar diagnosis?

No. The 12 weeks isolation is for people with brittle asthma which is severe asthma. Other people with well managed asthma with just the regular inhalers need to practice social distancing. My son is 12 he has brittle asthma, he takes 3 inhalers, montelukast tablets, azythromycin antibiotic (long term) and 8 steroid tablets a day. We are isolating completely for at least the next 12 weeks my husband has even had to move out for now as he needs to work.

Thanks FthisS, useful to hear of others experiences - sounds like a very worrying time for you. Wishing you all well.

I wondered this too, for my dd who has viral wheeze.

Tbh any breathing weakness, if you can try not to risk it why not..

That's what I was thinking but would feel so guilty for going off work with a 'minor' respiratory complaint.
