Should they all self isolate?

Friend's daughter had a temp, cough and sore throat on Friday. School told parents to keep her home for 7 days. Rules changed on Monday and anyone in family with symptoms = whole family to self isolate for 14 days. Friend and husband have both been in to work the past 2 days. Daughter (apparently) no longer has symptoms. Should they all be staying home? One parent is a dentist, for what it's worth

Anyone?

Yes, my understanding is they should all self isolate them

KMoKMo · 18/03/2020 15:36

Well yes I would isolate the family for 14 days as per the guidance.

It’s incredibly selfish and irresponsible to do otherwise IMO.

Employment is largely irrelevant.

HotGlueGun · 18/03/2020 15:39

I agree. I'm really really cross about it and have told my friend so. I make the point about employment because, as a dentist, you are obviously in very close proximity to people. She's not happy I've called her out on it, and apparently I'm the big bad wolf.

This situation is going to test a lot of friendships

SeaViewBliss · 18/03/2020 15:43

Its really irresponsible and if we can't trust a front line health worker to follow the rules, how can we ask other people to?

I don't blame you for being cross.

HotGlueGun · 18/03/2020 15:44

She works for the nhs although not frontline. She says she's been tested and is ok. Yeah right.

She hasn’t been tested! They are not testing NHS workers.
Irresponsible and pointless martyrdom. Nobody is going to give medals to the people who ‘soldiered on’.

HotGlueGun · 18/03/2020 15:50

She's not soldiering on. She doesn't work with patients.

So she's not being a martyr, in other words.

Had similar today. Lady who works at the school sent home due to symptoms - BUT - left her child in school! WTF!
