Mild Asthma

Anyone else out there with mild, controlled asthma. I have a preventer and sometimes need steroid tablets in the winter too. I am really confused.
I heard the advice re those offered flu jabs to begin isolating, then conflicting advice that it was only those with severe asthma, so called the surgery, who were very nice, and said I was fine to keep going as normal and go to work!
I thought we were all supposed to be working from home. Now even more confused.

Stay home. We are all isolating once we can get ds from school. I have asthma.

Yes, me OP! I used to have a preventer inhaler but don’t use it anymore. I barely use my reliever one. I did have free flu jab last year. But I think I’m not eligible anymore as no using my preventer inhaler. Had my asthma review a few weeks ago.

So I guess I feel I’m more at risk than a completely healthy person but only minimally. I have 2 kids under 3 so other than taking oldest to nursery and going to the supermarket I’m not going out anyway. Not working at the moment.

I’ll keep doing those two things - I think nursery will close from Monday anyway as it seems highly likely the schools will be closed then.

You’re asthma sounds more severe though so if you are entitled to flu jab (ie on preventer inhaler) then yes I would self isolate.

I have moderate asthma used to be quite easily triggered until i started on fosair and it has been godsend for me. I also have my preventer .I am eligible for the flu jab but after a bad reaction don't have it now .
I work in community care in a rural area if i self isolate then it would have knock on effect so i am being as careful as i can literally just going to work then home
My DH does the shopping .Two older DC's .On paper i should self isolate but the people i care for depend on us so self isolation isn't going happen unless it becomes i have too .

My asthma sounds similar to yours. Generally well managed but if I get a chest infection I’m really bad and need antibiotics and sometimes steroids. I work in the NHS and they seem very unsure about whether I should be working!
