How do you wfh?
cjt110 · 18/03/2020 12:11
I've done the odd day when I've had a tummy bug or some such... never long term.
So what are the best rules/guidance to someone new to wfh?

My top tip is, have a dedicated work space. A spare room is ideal but if not possible, set up an area somewhere else that you will only use for work.
Also, make sure other members of the household know you are only to be disturbed in an emergency.
I find it helps to get dressed properly as if for work, but others are OK to work in PJs so find what's best for yourself.

@TheMemoryLingers My plan was to set laptop up on the dining table (with monitors) and just set it up each day. We don't really have anywhere spare to set up permanently and I don't fancy having it on display 24/7

I am at the dining table, dressed and hair and make up done. I have a proper mouse and keyboard. I can do the odd day in pj's but I have been here since Friday and no idea how long it will last........

@MollysMummy2010 I will have a laptop, 2 monitors and keyboard and mouse.

That sounds fine, cjt but make sure your family try to keep out of the area while you are working.

Routine is key. It’s tempting to lay in til the last minute, not get dressed, have a late breakfast but it really puts your day out of sync and makes you lethargic.
Try and keep a normal routine, get up, breakfast as normal.
Set up laptop on a desk etc. Take regular breaks, fresh air, drink.

If you normally work in a team, set up a group chat on communicator or whatever equivalent you have so you can talk to each other during the day.
