Is COPD classed as needing to self isolate or is social distancing enough?

FthisS · 18/03/2020 20:51

How does social distancing work if you can't afford to?

FthisS · 18/03/2020 20:53

Sorry it's actually unclear about copd Confused this is the actual bit about people who should self isolate. I don't know why copd is not listed

I know there is some confusion about this, but in anyone’s opinion, does being on biologics and with previous (last one was 11 months ago though, so quite a while) itu admissions for asthma mean self isolate or social distance? I’m currently on relvar, spiriva, azithromycin and fexofenadine. But no current oral steroids. Last time was January. Do I still count as severe asthma? I just can’t work it all out and it’s really stressing me out.

craddock287 · 18/03/2020 21:04

Oh, and until very recently was prescribed monteleukast, theophylline and salbutamol/ mucoclear Nebs

FthisS · 18/03/2020 21:12

Yes that will pretty much fall under self isolate. That's what is classed as severe asthma, in that it isn't controlled by just the common two inhalers. My son is on azythromycin long term along with 3 inhalers and montelukast and 8 daily steroids. Phone asthma uk and speak with a nurse. One phoned me today and was brilliant. She was able to tell me that my son would be told to be isolated and she also advised me to contact the gp and ask for him to try seretide instead of symbicort because it's easier to take.

I will be able to social distance quite easily. Self isolating would be trickier as I'm due to move house next week.

craddock287 · 18/03/2020 21:21

Thankyou! I actually live in a gritty shared house in central London, so am thinking about getting to my parents for the duration. But 12 weeks is a long time. And self isolating just is not possible here because of how many people share not many facilities. Does this sound ott?

Crasddock id go now. If it's not as bad as all that you can always come back when Safe to do so-but you might not be able to go at a later date.
