National Trust

I read this morning that the National Trust are closing all cafes/buildings but are keeping parks and gardens open for free so people have opportunities to get some exercise, fresh air and enjoy nature whilst observing social distancing recommendations. Daft question, what if you need the toilet?! If people are going to travel to stop themselves from going stir crazy, they will need the toilet at some point which will allow the virus to spread. Am I missing something here?

Maybe not for a quick jaunt out to your nearest property? Although if it’s Tarn Hows then be aware there is no running water in the toilets, just hand sanitiser (and I expect that won’t last long).
We’re within driving distance of a few places we could get out, walk around, not need the toilet, rather than spend all day there looking round the property and having a meal as well.

I think most national trust properties are at least an hour or so drive from us so a quick jaunt wouldn’t really be an option unfortunately. Also have a 4 year old who hasn’t fully got the hang of toileting yet. 🙁

Oh that’s a shame, not ideal for you then. Check out any stately homes and gardens near you (if there are any, apologies if not) as I’ve seen some privately owned/trust owned ones advertising their grounds are open.

I think it’ll probably be ok to use the toilets as long as you wash your hands afterwards.

I saw this on social media with loads of people wanting a freebie saying they should meet up with friends for picnics.
I'm not sure what they have done is wise.
Sirzy · 18/03/2020 11:56
What they have done is a great idea.
Sadly they forgot to take idiots into account!
MrsSchrute · 18/03/2020 12:00
They've also closed the ones nearest to me, so not super helpful.
IncognitoIsMyFavouriteWord · 18/03/2020 12:05
There are refugees and homeless with nothing during this and you're complaining about this?
Underhisi · 18/03/2020 12:06
Some people need it spelling out to them that meeting up with your friends and letting all your dogs have a run around ( when most NT gardens and parks are dogs on lead) is not social distancing. Neither is families going picnicking together.
Gyptian · 18/03/2020 12:16
Not complaining Incognitols. Just trying to work through the logistics of what we can/can’t do during a prolonged shutdown.

Find the nearest supermarket and plan to go there right before and right after?
