Momentous or mundane.

Me:

Saturday afternoon pint after a bit of shopping

Going to the seaside

Being able to buy what you need

Waking up every morning without a knot of worry and fear in my chest

Making plans, travel (even just a bus ride to the next town), live music

The bustle of the city centre

The people I love. I think we all are guilty of doing this when day to day life gets in the way, however much we don't mean to

Human contact - I've noticed people everywhere striking up conversation (at a safe distance!) in a way they didn't before. I'm hoping this doesn't end when the CV outbreak does because it's lovely and I feel more 'connected' to the people in my community than ever, ironically. Of course that'll change if/when there's a total lockdown

I always thought I was the sort of person who took nothing for granted in the first place. All this has made me realise how much I actually did.

FREEDOM!

donquixotedelamancha · 18/03/2020 10:16

Toilet roll.

TheSpottedZebra · 18/03/2020 10:17

Ok, freedom is a biggie. My hayfever. Knowing that my constant itchy throat and intermittent cough is my hay fever, and nothing more.

whenwillthemadnessend · 18/03/2020 10:18

Just being able to
Pop out with out it being an operation

Theatre. Swimming. Cinema. Resturants. Take aways

Being able to access medical services for other issues.

Just freedom.

GirlYouHaveNoFaithInMedicine · 18/03/2020 10:19

I have been whining about my job over the last few months. But it is relatively secure, pays ok and wfh is easy for me so I'll be a little less keen to complain in future, methinks.

Reginabambina · 18/03/2020 10:21

Being able to jump on a plane and go wherever I want at the drop of a hat.

Historydweeb · 18/03/2020 10:22

Being with my family. I'm currently stuck on a tiny island in Africa feeling like I should have left while I could. I have no idea when I'll be able to get back to the UK and see my kids. That's all that really matters

Zisforstripyoss · 18/03/2020 10:23

The gym
Swimming
Soft play

Not having to justify every time I want to go out, especially with the DC!

QuimJongUn · 18/03/2020 10:27

Toilet roll feels like a distant memory. We're down to our last box of tissues and when they're gone, we'll have to start eyeing up the bookshelves Grin

Oh gosh yes, takeaways. Our local ones are still delivering but I worry for the driver's being in contact with potentially infected people, handling money etc. But if we don't support these businesses now they might be in trouble. It's a tough call.

Me and DH were at the theatre (followed by cocktails at our favourite bar) a week ago on Saturday. It was lovely. At the time we had an inkling things would go a bit bananas but nowhere had gone into lockdown and we couldn't have foreseen it. So we had no idea it'd be the last time we'd be able to do things like that for a long while.

Re other medical issues - I have rheumatoid arthritis and have been meaning to see my GP about better pain relief for ages. I kept putting it off. Now I'm not sure when I'll be able to, and the OTC pain relief I've been using is sold out everywhere. It's going to be a very uncomfortable few months.

Oh, freedom. I'm in the UK so no lockdown yet, but it's coming isn't it. We already have social distancing. And anyway because of my RA I should be self isolating from the weekend.

Also, I play guitar and would love to practice but I can't focus to do so. Same with reading. Both things I love which I can't bring myself to do. Tiny in the Freya scheme of things, I know.

Playgroups. Watching kids enjoying themselves while having coffee and a chat with other mums.

QuimJongUn · 18/03/2020 10:28

Oh @Historydweeb I'm so sorry. How awful and worrying. You're right. When it comes down to it, family really is all that matters Flowers

Freedom!!!!!!!

I am suffocating with this lockdown!

NoBoojustNo · 18/03/2020 10:30

Just being able to pop to the local shop without trying to guess what time would be best to avoid as many people as possible. High risk group who will inevitably need to go out sometimes.

adiposegirl2 · 18/03/2020 10:31

I'm watching this thread with immense intrigue and interest.

Donkeytail · 18/03/2020 10:32

Working from home alone. Dh is also working from home now and the kids have no school(I'm in Ireland). The dog is put out by everyone being around all the time and is acting up yapping, the kids are understandably a bit bored at this point and also acting up. I just want quiet!

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 18/03/2020 10:33

First off OP, I f*ng love your username Grin

Going out for a quiet coffee and watching the world go by normally.

Going to the hairdressers.

Hugging my friends and family ... as another poster said, lack of human contact is going to be really shit.

YgritteSnow · 18/03/2020 10:34

Food. The ridiculous waste we were responsible for as a family, the out of date food just chucked in the bin.

Nquartz · 18/03/2020 10:37

Keeping trim (enough) simply by walking to/from school.

I'm going to be doing star jumps in the garden & planking in the lounge Grin

DCIRozHuntley · 18/03/2020 10:41

Honestly? I think things will go back to normal and we'll all be as miserable as ever and complain about our daily routine, being in "soft play hell".

But I'll be happy when I don't wake up feeling as though I'm suffocating.

DCIRozHuntley · 18/03/2020 10:42

Should have been clearer - the suffocating feeling is not from Coronavirus, just from the anxiety and panic!

viccat · 18/03/2020 10:43

Buying what I want whenever I want it...

PrincessHoneysuckle · 18/03/2020 10:44

Everything tbh

Sparklingplasters · 18/03/2020 10:44

I think this a defining moment in our generation.

Remember when we could go the cinema, remember that pub/shop. Sadly remember Grandad, Uncle Bill etc

QuimJongUn · 18/03/2020 10:45

The ridiculous waste we were responsible for as a family, the out of date food just chucked in the bin

This. I'm ashamed of how blithely I'd throw slightly stale bread out for the birds or bin slightly soggy veg because I wasn't going to use it for anything. Granted it wasn't ridiculous amounts but if every family was doing the same the amount of food we bin as a nation is shocking.

Being a weird nerdy prepper in the family. Rather than the one who's got a full pantry and a few plans to deal with adverse situations.
