Are people finding its best to go at the moment they open? I want to pick some general supplies for my nana. Fresh bread, toilet roll, dettol, paracetamol and just one of each. Cannot find these products but wondering what other people’s experience is if this? Thanks.

Not necessarily . We had that idea yesterday. People were queuing up to get in . Still no eggs , flour , loo rolls etc .
Only self serve open until 30 mins after opening so defeats if you were planning on anything other than a basket full .

Last Wednesday our Aldi was pretty well stocked at 8:30 / 9:00.

I then went to sainsburys and faired less well

Suppose it’s just a lottery. Will keep trying

Have you tried smaller local shops? They seem to be better stocked.

Have you posted in any local community groups? They may be able to help.

It will depend what time they get deliveries in and with companies changing deliveries to get more in and focusing on certain products depending what is needed then I would imagine it’s mainly pot luck

Sparklingbrook · 18/03/2020 08:38

It all depends when (or if) they get their deliveries. I would think deliveries are a bit 'as and when' at the moment. There aren't constant deliveries all day.
They may get an early delivery but not have the staff to get it all on the shelves immediately. I don't know if all supermarkets have a night crew either.

It's all a bit pot luck at the moment. I have heard that when stuff like loo rolls arrive on the shop floor they get sold within half an hour. Sad

In normal times, I find first thing in the morning is usually good, as well stocked and quiet, first hour of opening or before about 8 am or so if a 24 hour one, but at the moment, I just think it's all over the place and a matter of luck.

I went to Asda on Monday morning and they had hardly anything of the things being reported as low/out of stock (cleaning products, toilet roll, canned and packet goods etc).

Apart from the bread, you might have better luck with those things in somewhere like Wilkos or Home Bargains and then get the bread from a bakery or the Co-op?

Was planning to go at midnight to my 24hr tesco, but they’ve just announced they are now closing overnight from now on so that’s my plan out the window!

dottiedodah · 18/03/2020 08:44

I tend to go to both Tesco and Sainsburys ATM .Short drive of each other .Varying rates of success though .Have enough Loo roll and some tinned food .Hoping the new measures work out .Am trying my hand at some home made bread tomorrow .

Sparklingbrook · 18/03/2020 08:46

Sainsburys have just said they aren't allowing anyone to buy more than three of anything. So that's good.
