I don't know anyone that has, but I thought it would be nice to have a thread for those that are suffering. Please feel free to share your experiences and advice.

I don't know anyone who definitely has it at the moment just know of a few people who feel a bit under the weather and don't know if they've got a mild case or a regular cold. I guess this is exactly why we should be testing, so that they know for sure.

AmelieTaylor · 17/03/2020 23:55

Bummer he’s not offering to keep you company!!

I saw your post on another thread, about what it’s been like -thanks for sharing. Hope you feel better soon!

(I have had it, i was just hoping others had posted to keep you company and share their experience...

Isla727 · 17/03/2020 23:56

The only people that they are testing at the moment are seriously ill in hospital. Anyone else with it is just told to self-isolate unless they become very unwell.

IpeartreeI · 18/03/2020 00:03

Ds2 appears to have it, but can't be certain as they're not testing. High temperature, horrible cough, headache, pain in body and slight sore throat.

Dh had a temperature and a cough. He felt unwell for a few days, but says he's not too bad now and his chest feels better than it did.

I felt hot and weird for a couple of days then developed an uncomfortable feeling in my chest and kept needing to cough, but that's all.

Ds2 has been quite poorly with it and I have been worried. He ate fish fingers, cake and milk today though so he may be recovering now.

Could have been flu/random coughing virus or Covid 19. Who knows?

mindproject · 18/03/2020 00:06

Yeah, the testing would really be a waste of time anyway. You could test negative one minute, then pop out for a pint of milk and bam you've got it the next minute. They'd have to test you every day.

There are probably a lot of people out there that think they have it when they don't.

Maybe we have it idk self isolating anyway wish we bloody knew though can't believe we aren't testing more

Maybe not every case, but not just those in hospital.

Designerenvy · 18/03/2020 00:19

@mindproject, I dont think testing is a waste time. If people who are symptomatic were tested, then they'd know if they had it or not , no more guessing.
Also, they wouldn't be checking people who are asymptomatic, so your statement makes no sense ....
Also, data needs to be collected on the number of people who actually get this virus. This will help determine what percentage were mild, moderate or severe .
This is very useful information for future pandemics and to help identify where changes can be made in our response to it , what worked and what didn't.
Without accurate data, we can not gauge necessary future measures , if such a case arises again.
So testing is a very valuable and necessary measure for application of isolation of positive patients and all their contacts ( through expert contact tracing ) in an effort to curtail this virus and for future data analysis.

There will be an antibody test in due course, so it will be possible to find out after the event who has had it.

Designerenvy · 18/03/2020 00:30

@ErrolTheDragon, it'll be a bit late then when contacts haven't been traced and isolated to prevent the spread. The numbers will be huge, so will the fatalities.

TangoWhisky · 18/03/2020 00:32

@IpeartreeI

Is your house self isolating for a minimum of 14 days?

Jess24reynolds · 18/03/2020 00:32

My son has been very poorly today temperature of 40 cough and cold sore throat. My 80 year old grandma lives with us too,and they still would not test him because he doesn’t have breathing problems.

Jess24reynolds · 18/03/2020 00:34

I thought that too an mentioned it to the doctor who refused to test my son and he said they do not need to know numbers anymore (very strange I thought)

ErrolTheDragon · 18/03/2020 00:34

For sure, but the ab test would be relevant for the part I quoted.

IpeartreeI · 18/03/2020 11:57

Yes, we're isolating.

TangoWhisky · 23/03/2020 23:42

We've lost two members of my / partners family and my sibling has it
None of them had been in contact with each other
