DS has temp and sore chest, what now?

We already took the DC out of school (yesterday) but looks like we did it too late.

11yo DS complained of feeling hot and "heartburn" on the way to bed but after talking to him it appears he has a sore chest.

That doesn't sound good does it? I can't find the thermometer. He felt warm and clammy, not a raging temperature.

This sounds like coronavirus doesn't it?

If it is, what can we expect now? Everyone says it's not that bad in kids but what does that mean exactly?

What are the danger signs we need to watch out for?

Check the 111 website if you are in the UK.
Self isolate for 14 days.

We're already self isolating. That's not what I'm asking.

I'm asking others who've already had coronavirus, or those who have nursed people with it, what we can expect.

I think me and my little boy have it currently.

He’s only one so can’t tell me obviously, but my symptoms sound similar to your son. A cough and a weird feeling in my upper chest. Like heartburn or like you’ve been running.
I’ve also had a bad sore throat.
It might not be Corona...but I feel like it is. My one year old DS has had a brief fever and is now coughing a lot which is preventing him from sleeping properly, so even though I feel bad I’ve got a rough night ahead Sad

I hope your son is ok.
The advice is to remain at home and manage his symptoms. However, if he suddenly declines ie is struggling to breathe or is desperately unwell, call 111. If you can’t get through, dial 999. At the very least they will help you assess him over the phone to ascertain if you need the hospital.

Give him paracetamol and reassure him. He’s probably scared as he’s old enough to have heard what’s going on in the news etc. Ice lollies can help him if he’s feeling hot.
Of course he could just have a normal virus, so just keep a close eye on him. Children are great at bouncing back quickly. Take care yourself and make sure he keeps hydrated. I hope he’s ok, you must be worried sick

SpongeCake23 I'm sorry to hear you've got it too. I agree that sounds like descriptions I've heard of it.

When did your symptoms start?

Ice lollies. Bum.

That's a great idea. Shame the freezer chose now to pack up Sad.

It's colder than the fridge but not actually freezing. We had loads of icepops. Now coloured water!
