Self isolation and annual leave

Workplace has a policy in place now in regard to self isolation, school closures and annual leave which states that any time taken off to isolate because of family members or because school is closed is to be taken as annual leave, unless able to work from home. Most of us can't work from home particularly those on lower grades. We can use our paid leave and then go on to unpaid.

Therefore once the schools close, any parents have six weeks paid and then move to unpaid. Anyone off because their child has a cough and follows government guidance uses up two weeks of annual leave.

Is this what's happening in other workplaces? Only it seems very likely that if this goes on for months a lot of us will be on unpaid leave very soon.
