Vulnerable Groups Isolation

Has it been decided when this will come into action?

Also how does it work of your husnans needs to go to work anyway? My husband works in a supermarket so can't work from home.

I will be keeping my kids home from school during this period as I would need to use public transport to get there. Husband starts work at 6 and finishes at 4 so wouldn't be able to do pickup/drop off.

I'm sorry if these have been asked before and answered. I am getting myself in an anxious knotty mess trying to find info and need to at least get some order in my head.

www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-on-social-distancing-and-for-vulnerable-people/guidance-on-social-distancing-for-everyone-in-the-uk-and-protecting-older-people-and-vulnerable-adults

There's a guide on here. Although it doesn't seem to match up completely to what was said yesterday with the 12 weeks isolation.

I think it depends how vulnerable he is, whether he falls into the severe category and then the NHS will contact him with a bespoke plan.

In the meantime, he could ask his work for guidance on how they are protecting vulnerable members of their staff teams especially in a public facing role.

Sorry just realised I assumed it was your husband who was vulnerable, but it could be yourself.

MinkowskisButterfly · 17/03/2020 21:39

Sorry no it's me that falls into the vulnerable category, but he is coming home after customer facing all day/week. So I can't completely isolate. Thank you for the link.

I'm yet to understand this too. DH can work from home and is now, but I'm unsure if that will last the entire 12 weeks. He can do drop off to breakfast clubs if they reinstate them but I'm still, as the vulnerable one, left with pick up. I have no intention of crowding into two tight playgrounds with hundreds of others when I'm being advised not to.

I dont think the official 12 week isolation has started yet, I think I heard it may be in place by weekend.

LifeintheFASDlane · 17/03/2020 21:59

I'm the vulnerable one too, DH cant work from home and the children have school. I'm really confused as to how I'm meant to protect myself if they're all coming and going each day. Its causing me a lot of stress keep thinking about it.

@OhLookHeKickedTheBall That is my concern, I'm going to have a chat with the head this week and see what she suggests for after Easter if we ate still open. Looking at that link above I only fall into the normal vulnerable group (I have asthma, not currently under control very well but only use a blue and brown inhaler). I would still prefer the kids to stay home if that 12 week isolation applies to that group. My youngest is reception and my oldest at college but needs taking (both have ASD).

@LifeintheFASDlane yes the stress is getting to me too (I also have mh issues which are teetering at the minute) so much so last night I woke about 4.30 but had an episode of sleep paralysis. The joy.
