British Airways Flights and vouchers

I'm due to fly with BA next week. My flight isn't currently cancelled. My booking was made last week and is non-refundable.

It says on the BA website that any bookings made after March 3rd can be exchanged for a voucher of the same value. Does this mean the price of the ticket or the route? I want to book the same route for a later date, but the prices are twice what I originally paid!

They have asked people not flying within 72 hours to not phone. I was hoping that someone here has already got through to them and has the answers!

I think if you paid say £500 you would get a voucher for £500.

I am in the same boat, meant to be flying on 3 April on the most expensive flights I have ever bought.

Really, seeing as the foreign office has now warned against all non-essential travel globally, I think BA should give refunds rather than vouchers. Also, the voucher is only valid for 12 months and I’m concerned that in 12 months’ time this may still be going on and/or BA might have gone under...

You will get the voucher for the value you paid, but you will need to pay in the difference if the new flight is more expensive.

Thank you.

My flight is Weds, March 25th. What are the chances that it will be cancelled?

Where are you going and what nationality are you?

bemoreeverything · 18/03/2020 13:42

You will get back what you paid just as in any refund scheme. No business gives extra because the service or time costs more later. There are going to be huge loses to all with this, I don't think BA are at fault here.

BA flights are still flying. I spoke to them today and said as long as destination is open, they are flying. I was advised to take a voucher and I refused. If my flight is not cancelled a week before scheduled, I’ll claim from insurance.

Honeyroar · 18/03/2020 17:10

I’d be very wary. Flights are getting cancelled all the time as different countries add on foreigners policies. Unless you’re going home and staying I’d not be travelling personally. My flight tomorrow was cancelled today..

I'm British and I'm flying to Japan for work.

I agree that it's not BA's fault. I'm just miffed that I can't get the same flight at a later date! The flight scheduled for next week cost £600. However, the same flight two weeks later is now £1200! Sad
