Front line staff support

Nofoolfornoone · 17/03/2020 19:58

Hi I work for nhs and I am really ready to do what I trained for and support the health of the country but I am also really feeling the pressure as I am personally in the at risk group due to uncontrolled asthma. I just wanted to start a support group for all those front line workers. Maybe share some coping strategies and restore each other when needed!

I know some front line NHS staff and I'm wondering whether to contact them and ask if they need help. What would be the most useful things the rest of us could do to help people like you?

Also thank you, thank you, thank you.

I know pregnant frontline workers who are being pressured to keep doing their normal job rather than self isolating or being moved behind the scenes. Angry

Great thread idea.

I'm frontline nhs. Also diabetic. A bit scared in truth.

America have asked the construction industry to donate the worker mask inventory as they are good for this virus

I'm an ex ITU nurse but now work in a different field
I'm asthmatic

I'm wondering if they will call me back if things get bad

I’m community based and We’ve been told in no uncertain terms that we will be redeployed and as health staff the government advice does not apply so we’re expected in and expected to be flexible and if we’re not we will face disciplinary. Which is not the best way to motivate people in a stressful time. Please tell me not all trusts are behaving in this way?!

I'm frontline staff too. I'm a diabetic and also scared, but more for financial reasons rather than my health. If we have to self isolate for 12 weeks would we be getting SSP or the usual sick pay? Does anybody know?

SonicRevolution · 17/03/2020 21:48

@Nofoolfornoone my Trust is becoming rather 'firm' with staff now. I wouldn't mind, but we're bending over backwards (even more than usual) and they can't even provide the correct PPE for us.

reaslimshady · 17/03/2020 21:52

We can't even be supplied with correct PPE as not enough masks to go around!

I love what I do but I worry about what I could be bringing back home to my children.

I'm in the community but told to scale down our work ready for deployment to the frontline. My DD's school has closed today without any notice. I was hoping that schools would stay open so I can do my bit. Now, I've got a child to look after instead. Headteacher sent note home with a shed load of work which requires parental support. So not eve confident I can WFH now. WTF do I do? Will I even be paid? I'm totally screwed if not.
