Why is no-one talking about live animal markets ?

Even the World Health Organisation's website is suggesting Covid-19 originated from a 'wet market' / live animal market in Wuhan. Surely these markets have to be a thing of the past as the risk is too great and they can't be allowed to unleash another global virus like this again.

Why is it not being discussed in the media?

I would assume the media spaces are taken up by where we are in this exact moment, it's changing constantly.
Although I do agree with you, it's important to find out exactly how this started and prevent it happening again.

I started this thread earlier:

I believe the media feel that images showing the horror of these markets are too much for us to cope with. The cruelty is unbearable (and yes, I'm aware of the cruelty in Western factory farming). I'm still hoping that things will start to change. There are several petitions on change.org to ask the Chinese, Vietnamese and Indonesian governments to close live animal markets.

They are introducing legislation to ban people eating wildlife, but who knows if it will work.

Thought the bat infected some other animal anyway. Trouble is l doubt China will cooperate with an enquiry.

Trouble is l doubt China will cooperate with an enquiry.

They might do if the world imposes severe sanctions on them.

Apologies Dongdingdong, I hadn't noticed your earlier thread.

I think it is time for sanctions. The global cost in human, financial and emotional terms cannot just be shrugged off till the next time.
