Spoken to a few people who are pulling pre-schoolers out of nursery.

I’m not looking for a big debate, just a quick Yes / No poll.

Are you still sending your pre-schoolers to nursery?

Sorry if this has been done already, I did look and couldn’t see a thread. Thanks

Yes. I’m a nurse and have to work.
I’m also sending him in with several packets of biscuits for his nursery nurses.

Frlrlrubert · 17/03/2020 19:03

I'm a teacher so she'll be going as long as we/they are open unless we have to self isolate.

BessMarvin · 17/03/2020 19:09

No, stopped today. I'm on mat leave though so can look after him.

Treaclepie19 · 17/03/2020 19:10

No my 4yo is home. I'm 11 weeks pregnant and my husband is working from home.

bubba22 · 17/03/2020 19:11

He goes 2 playgroup not nursery but no.

Foldinthecheese · 17/03/2020 19:16

All of mine are. Two are in pre-school and one at a private nursery. I’m a teacher, so obviously still working. My husband is working from home as of tomorrow, but wouldn’t get anything done with all of them around. I assume that childcare settings will close when schools do, so that’s the point that we’ll all be home together.

Pilot12 · 17/03/2020 19:20

No - I'm a SAHM and I've taken my four year old out of council nursery.

Salene · 17/03/2020 19:35

No my 5 year old is home from school and my 3 year old is off nursery. I'm working from home and keeping us all away from people.

BreakfastAtTiffany · 17/03/2020 19:37

No, not since the start of this week.

whattodo2019 · 17/03/2020 19:39

I wouldn't if I didn't need to

Nixen · 17/03/2020 19:40

Yes, as we are both still working and it costs us £1200 a month to send her there 😬

moita · 17/03/2020 19:41

Yes. Until he/we show symptoms or they close. I want to keep things as 'normal' as possible for him. He will miss it so much.

Enoughisenoughhhhh · 17/03/2020 19:46

Yes. 2dc aged 1 and 3. Dreading the announcement of their closure which will essentially spell house arrest for me. I am still expected to work from home (university lecturer) delivering teaching online. My multi tasking skills are going to be out of this world by the time we are through with this. Either that or (perhaps more likely) I will have a legitimate mental breakdown.

Elpheba · 17/03/2020 19:48

Yes- they only go part time and Wednesday is the last day of their nursery week so I’m expecting tomorrow to be the last day they’ll be there.

AnotherEmma · 17/03/2020 19:48

You can't WFH with a 1 and 3 yo, that's ridiculous.
When nursery closes I'll have to stop working, luckily my employer is understanding and usually allows paid leave for childcare issues, but if necessary it will have to be unpaid leave.

Enoughisenoughhhhh · 17/03/2020 21:00

I don't have a choice to stop working. How do you propose I pay my bills? It's not a day or even a week... its 3 months at least and maybe more.

reaslimshady · 17/03/2020 21:14

No keeping mine off.
I'm lucky enough to work nights so I am able to do this.

GinUnicorn · 17/03/2020 21:16

Yes unless she gets a cough or temperature she will be attending

DubTheeUnforgiven · 17/03/2020 21:17

No, took my 4 year old out of nursery today (and my eldest out of school)

ParkheadParadise · 17/03/2020 21:18

Yes, now dropping off at the door. Think they were outside for most of the morning.

Selfsettling3 · 17/03/2020 21:19

No. Self isolating due to high temperature.

@looloo247 if you develop symptoms the it’s 7 days from the onset your symptoms.

Canyoutellilikrchocolate · 18/03/2020 08:04

Completely in 2 minds so thanks for your answers

Schools and Council nurseries closed from Friday in Scotland.

Superfoodie123 · 18/03/2020 14:17

Yes.

Were still paying and wfh

happymummy12345 · 18/03/2020 17:34

I said I'd keep sending my son in. He goes to a private nursery which is still open. None of us have symptoms or have been in contact with anyone who has. He loves going and I'd hate not sending him in while he can still go, especially if they do have to close in the not too distant future. But at the same time I feel bad for the staff. Now I'm thinking would or could one less child make a difference within the setting? I'm a SAHM so keeping him off will have no impact on me at all. Whereas I'm sure there are other parents who need their child to attend in order for them to work. I'm
conflicted..
