Boris's chance to be Churchill

Boris Johnson has apparently always fancied himself as a modern day Churchill and perhaps now is his big chance! Do you think he will rise to the occasion?

No.

smellycatwee · 17/03/2020 17:10

makes me cringe!

TheReluctantCountess · 17/03/2020 17:10

Nope

redstocking · 17/03/2020 17:11

No. So far he has minimised this crisis, tried to play with it and failed to take it seriously because he believed optimism and plucky spirit would destroy a virus. Yesterday he looked like a teenager whose jolly jape went wrong.

Hes a lazy, lying, irresponsible, incompetent buffoon with selective hearing, who has surrounded himself with sycophants. If he wants to become a proper leader, he needs to grow the fuck up fast.

Wiltinglillies · 17/03/2020 19:42

Couldn't have put it better than Dione.
I can just about tolerate him reading from a script, but as soon as he starts answering questions, his urge to bluff, bullshit and flippantly joke just takes over.
Churchill he is not!

BettyIsMyFavouriteSquirrel · 17/03/2020 19:47

He’s no Churchill, unless you mean that nodding dog from the car insurance adverts? Now you mention it I can see a resemblance.

GoodbyeRosie · 17/03/2020 19:47

Well he's already an unapologetic racist like Churchill was.

He needs better speech writers though. Churchill left people in many parts of the country desperate and starving as minister of war in WW1 and P.M. in WW2, but still managed to convince thr public he was a great patriot.

Gronky · 17/03/2020 19:50

I think your impression of Sir Winston might be coloured by the lack of live television recordings and the manner in which political interviews were conducted back then. Right up to the mid-60s it was almost unthinkable for a journalist to ask a question a Minister wasn't prepared to answer, much less push for a response.

AutumnCrow · 17/03/2020 19:52

I'm watching Parliament Live.

Looks like Johnson has pissed off home.

He's no Churchill. And Churchill was a right cunt.

AutumnCrow · 17/03/2020 19:55

Rishi Sunak is talking of the 'generosity of the benefits system'.

So he's a cunt too. But hey, he's Johnson's cunt.

DioneTheDiabolist · 18/03/2020 01:07

Leo Varadkar's speech tonight was serious honest, moving and hopeful. A stark contrast to Boris Johnson Fuckwit.

MauriceandAlec · 18/03/2020 01:14

Arthur Newsholme, more like.

recall · 18/03/2020 03:56

I think he’s doing a good job..... ignoring the self serving opposition and sensationalising media....but listening intently to the experts and trying to look after us all.

Who would you have in his place ?
