Teacher with temperature

One of my teacher friends has said she has a temperate (38 point something) although she's not feeling unwell. Should she be off school? Her headteacher said to her this morning that it was her decision. Is it?? Shouldn't he be the one to have the say and not put it on her to make that call. I think she doesn't want to let the side down and also be negatively treated for taking herself out of school for two weeks.

She should self isolate. But some heads won’t be following that advice because there are no agency staff available for cover.

Of course she should be off school. This isn't about her.

The teacher is going against government advice for all household members to isolate where any person has either a fever or a persistent cough. Very irresponsible
I think I remember 14 days self isolation being quoted but have also read 7 so that part requires clarification.

One local school has closed a Year group because there are insufficient teachers fir that year group.

I take it she can read, given she's a teacher. The advice is crystal clear and everywhere.

'Stay at home if you have coronavirus symptoms
Stay at home if you have either:
• a high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
• a new, continuous cough – this means you've started coughing repeatedly'

She has a high temperature, ergo she stays at home.

I am a teacher who is never off sick. I get terrible work guilt. However I have a 3year old with a raging temp. It's a no brainer. I'm off and my HT is massively supportive. You don't get much higher than government advice

she needs to stay home. I get that she feels bad. I am home with symptoms and my dd is just coming to the end of her isolation. My colleagues are struggling with less staff but the guidance is there for a reason.

I agree.
