Ideas for entertaining young teens...

I have 3 DC off school, younger two are very happy playing, being out in the garden and have also found lots of age appropriate activities online to bring out when boredom does sink in.

However we are only on day two of a minimum of 2 weeks isolation and she is already so bored and not really getting much help with ideas to do online.

She loves to cook and bake so definitely been doing a lot more of that, and I’m trying to encourage her to keep reading but other than that there seems to be a lot moaning, Netflix and eye rolls...

Anyone else in a similar situation or have ideas of things to keep her entertained?

Does she have any interest in video games?
Put Marie Kondo on Netflix and encourage a declutter minimalism is all the rage.
Any Tumblr/tiktok/youtube DIYs she can try at home with stuff you already have?

mine are 12 and 13 and we have set up desks for them to follow as much of the school curriculum as possible online and via email......but they are not going back for the forseeable future so have to try not to fall behind...

You could get her to plan some projects. E.g.

Use Pinterest or old fashioned magazines, scissors and glue to create mood boards for redecorating her room.

She could do the same with a personal makeover - have fun exploring new hairstyles and clothes ideas.

Get her to design her dream home.

Sort out clutter and clean some things to give to charity.

Keep a diary.

Do an online fitness course.

Follow some podcasts.

Read a book or two. Download onto kindle or use Audible if you don't want deliveries at the moment.

If you have a garden, get her out there to do some garden maintenance with you, or to take some nature photos, or set up some bug hotels, hedgehog shelters etc if she is still young enough to be interested in this sort of thing.

Get her to set herself a challenge - to learn an instrument or do a fitness challenge (eg press ups, pullups, burpees etc) that increases each day.

Go outside every day for walks in nature, bike rides etc

Watch some classic movies with her

Ask her to help with some DIY

Help her pick up some key life skills - now is the time to learn how to do her own laundry, make her own bed, polish shoes, change a lightbulb etc if she doesn't know already
