Worried about school

Just heard that two of our local primaries have a case each but are staying open. One of the children who has it has a brother in DD's class, the whole family is self isolating but the mum has said the son isn't feeling well. I'm worried now about DD, she has a low immune system. I don't know whether to still send her to school or not. DH still has to work though so I suppose he could bring it home anyway.

Keep her home, close to you.
I'm keeping my teen home as from tomorrow.
Look after yourself, your loved ones and the community around you.

That's what my instinct is saying.... absences are still unauthorised in her school if it's a precaution. Surely they can't fine in the current circumstances?

Keep her at home, say she's self isolating, schools will prob shut at the end of the week anyway. Many have already.

If it were me I'd keep her home. You have every reason to and your Head must see that? Even if they don't it doesn't matter right now. Act on what you know about and what is best for you all

DFE say:
Where a pupil does not attend school and is not self-isolating, the pupil will be marked as absent. We back headteachers’ judgement and to be pragmatic – having spoken to parents – on whether to authorise such absence, taking into account individual circumstances. We expect, in particular, headteachers will authorise absence where a pupil is not able to attend because of an underlying health condition that means they, or a family member in their household, are particularly vulnerable to coronavirus (COVID-19).
So i think the head should authorise on account of her immune system

Keep her home. In a few weeks time I’m sure you won’t regret keeping her home, even if you did get a fine (sure they won’t do that anyway). Go with your gut.

Thanks everyone, it's good to get some outside perspectives on it. She was born 13 weeks premature and has always struggled in the winter, she catches things easily and has them very badly.

I'm keeping dd home from primary as her sister is waiting for cardiac surgery. School were fine with it.
About half the class are self isolating now, soon there won't be any point in opening the schools as everyone is home.
