Football matches, swimming lessons, educational visits locally to museums etc all still going ahead.

We have our own fleet of minibuses so 10 students/teachers in a vehicle together for at least half hr.

This does‘t sit right with me but the schools have been given no guidance on this

The whole country has had the same bloody guidance- stop unnecessary social contact. How thick are your school's SMT that they need to specifically be told "yes, this also applies to school trips"?!

KahlanRahl · 17/03/2020 10:12

Do you work there or do your kids go there? Because if you work there you can say something about it, if your kids go there you can try to keep them at home or at a good friend or family's house (please just 1 to contain the spread)

Don’t send the kids in. They aren’t safeguarding them.

Guidance from last night from Boris - all school trips should be reconsidered/stopped.

Our schools have stopped everything except core lessons.

strawberrylipgloss · 17/03/2020 10:16

Just had an email saying that our school is cancelling all those sorts of things and to be patient with the refund as there's such a high volume (8 form entry secondary including a Sixth Form)

Ventilatorshortage · 17/03/2020 10:29

Yep, we have one school cancelling stuff, parents evening, extra curricular stuff, trips, and clearly looking at pinch points in the day.

The other is gathering them all into assembly to talk about hand washing..
Extra stuff still going on!..

Not safe guarding at all Confused and then they say, we have no cases in the school, how would we know unless a student died? Because they are not testing.

It’s a school I work in. I run 4 trips a week, 2 have gone ahead so far. One in a remote woodland and today’s in a leisure centre which is still open.

My own children’s school has stopped all activities including music lessons.

Whilst the school I work at is open and it’s in a very rural area it is thought by some staff that taking students out to outdoor isolated areas such as mountains/forests etc is better.

Actually OP, I think I would be fine with the forest trip. The kids are close together in the classroom, and so minibus to forest and then open air?

I would not be happy with my kids being taken to the leisure centre today though

PeanutbutterJamSandwich · 17/03/2020 12:37

@steppemum today’s visit is where my concerns have come from.

Trips in to the open air seem okay.
