One of my colleagues has come in with a nasty cough that started yesterday, has been talking non stop about how her husband is ill and has been for days. She's also just said she had a temperature. She's coughing into her hands and not using hand sanitizer after.... I mean... REALLY? Am I unreasonable to think what the hell is she playing at? I'm not one to panic but I'd really rather she stayed at home Confused

She is going against all advice. She should be at home for 14 days along with her whole household

Have you told her you're concerned that she's not listening to advice? If so, and she doesn't care, I would be packing up and going home myself and informing HR as to the reason why

She needs to be made to go home. ASAP. Get HR or her manager involved?

Please report her to your most senior manager. This happened to someone I know, he was sat next to someone displaying symptoms, the whole office was ordered to go home. He now has CV but is young so not doing too badly.

Tell her/line manager/ supervisor/HR/occupational health immediately. She is a fool.

The manager is aware and had just called her in to the office so hopefully she is being told to go home... I just can't understand why she would come in like that and risk everyone else in the office and our families.

I think the next few months will only reinforce my belief that some people are just idiots.

Wow! Talk about ignorance! Fingers crossed she's being told to go home & stay there (& quite frankly getting a bollocking for going in in the first place!).
Let us know what transpires & if I were you I'd be raiding the cleaning cupboard to make sure anything she's touched is disinfected!!!

Good luck x

Hopefully employers will start reprimanding staff who come in sick.
The disgusting practice of coming in sick to signal superior work ethic needs to stop.

Scary stuff. Have seen it repeating on Facebook situations among friends contacts too.
People are selfish.
If she doesn’t go home you and your colleagues should all leave and tell your manager why! They will soon make poorly employee go then!

I too hope she is being told to go home. I cant believe she would take such risks.
In the meantime I think you should all self isolate elsewhere if possible and sanitize everything she might have touched, door handles, keyboards, etc etc.
I hope it's just a winter cold and nothing more. Stay safe.

I had a colleague who ignored the swine flu warnings and came in with it. She infected the entire team! I was livid!

She's been told to go and work from home, why she wouldn't just have text yesterday morning and asked to work from home in the first place I don't know. Our workplace are incredibly supportive of WFH. She's now at her desk saying how she feels as though she's being punished.... it's not punishment it's following government advice! She really is the most ignorant, selfish person I've ever met.

Report to your manager and refuse to work with potentially infectious colleague.
The stupidity of some people is breathtaking,

She is an utter selfish twat. What the hell is she thinking?

I would be out of there until everything she has touched since a couple of days before onset of symptoms has been swabbed down, and the windows have been open for a few hours

I am in the highly vulnerable group, and am telling people this quite a lot at the moment. So even if they are selfish gits elsewhere, they are occasionally being forced to think about the real person talking to them whose chances of death have just gone up because of their choices

Though of course I’m not doing this any more - I have been distancing myself for some time now, am close to full isolation now

Please would people do it for me?

Unbelievable!

I'd have to make my feelings known! She's probably gonna go bloody shopping now! 🙄

Being punished! When she can work from the home how ridiculous.

I had same problem though, work colleagues coming in coughing too!

She's gone now and we have sprayed anti bac over her desk/keyboard but we are all a bit nervous now, apparently I was one of 4 people in my office who complained.

Your office will need a deep clean now. She's probably already spread her germs everywhere in the short time she's been there :-(
