Sending DC to nursery - are you still doing it?

Just that really - obviously we still have to pay for DC's nursery which I totally understand and so far we are still sending them, but I feel uneasy about it. We could keep them off with a lot of upheaval but not sure if I should be doing that or not. For those of you with children in childcare are you still using it?

I have to, I still need to go to work at the moment. My husband is in the vulnerable category and I feel awful about possibly putting him at risk Sad

Yes! Our nursery has introduced new measures- no parents past the door, random temperature checks. I’m not prepared to keep myself and a toddler in the house for months so until the nursery is forced to closed, for as long as my household is well, I’m using it

Yes I'm still sending my 2. I'm working from home until at least 16th April and won't get anything done with them at home so I'm keeping them at nursery for as long as I can. Ours also has the no parents past the door, temperature checks, anyone looking even slightly symptomatic sent home etc. DH is a teacher so it's not like we can all isolate ourselves anyway.

Yes, I have to go to work

DappledThings · 17/03/2020 08:48

Yes, as long as they are open. They don't go on Tuesdays anyway as that's my day off but if open tomorrow will go as normal.

Expecting it to close soon though.

Yes for as long as I can

Dd is being isolated atm but once that's over (she has a cold) we'll send her back in. We'll be working for as long as we can, saving every penny and trying to make sensible shopping choices. Also the longer nursery remains open the higher the likelihood that they wont have to make staff redundant.

Yes. My childminder has confirmed she will do all she can to stay open. Ofsted need to start relaxing rules regarding staff ratios if we have any chance of keeping childcare facilities open. If she can't work, she loses her business and we can't work and can't afford to pay our mortgage and other bills.

No, I'm a SAHM so we've stopped our son going to his council nursery (four half days per week). The nursery have cancelled all events and extra activities and parents are no longer allowed to enter the building (children have to be handed over to staff at the door). They're one step away from closing. My son is due to start school in September so I think this is the end of his time at nursery 😢 I don't know how I'm going to tell him there's no more nursery (he loves it) and that he won't be seeing his classmates again.
