Self isolating without cough or temp?

I’ve taken the decision for my family to self isolate for 14 days as me and Dh feel unwell. We both feel v tired, achy. No cough, no temp. Keeping the kids off school. We can both work from home. This is reasonable isn’t it? My friend said we should still send the kids to school as we dont have the cough or temp

Meant to add headaches. All symptoms for a few days now

Yes perfectly reasonable. Everyone should do what they feel is best for their family with no judgement from others.

I’m keeping my DS off school now. I’m lucky enough to be able to work from home.

I have the same symptoms as you. DH said we should keep DD off as we’re over 50 as well... I disagreed last night and said we had to follow guidelines.

This morning I’ve thought “fuck it” and DD will be off school.

MerryDeath · 17/03/2020 08:27

absolutely reasonable. anyone who is in the position to do this should be.

@TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth Over 50 ? Is this now an 'at risk' group? A lot of parents of secondary school kids will be aged 50+.

I've had a temp on and off for a couple of days but otherwise appear to have sniffles rather than a cough. Very swollen lymph node on neck though. I'm self isolating.

Thanks everyone. I am a bit concerned about the kids missing school but feel we need to be on the safe side.
I hear so many people saying their cough and temperature isn’t covid, it’s just a cold. How the hell do they know?!

So so many dc will be in the same boat.
No school can now guarantee they havant had a case without testing.
It's running rampant...

I don't. That's why I'm distancing and using a separate bed/bathroom even at home since DH is one of those who qualifies as vulnerable.

My daughter has a cough OP, it's been longer than a week, is now turning phlegmy (cv is supposedly a dry cough), she is now developing a runny nose, hasn't had fever and is otherwise well.
Baby brother now also developing signs of cold - runny nose, sneezing, no fever and minor non-persistent cough.

I'd say this is clearly not CV - but she's still been told by school to stay off for 2 weeks.

@LizzieMacQueen over 50’s are much more likely to die than those under 50; but then again I guess they’re more likely to have underlying health conditions, too.
The risk is still small. I’m not too worried, but DH is!
