I don't know if I have coronavirus

Hiya, my young son was poorly all last week, high temp at the start then very tired, and at the end of the week started what sounded like a dry cough. I pretty much stayed at home with him all week. I don't feel like it was coronavirus- he had a very runny nose and it seemed to be more like a cold to me.
Anyway, I have now in the past 2 days got a cough, mine is chesty like where you cough up phlegm (sorry, tmi!), slight headache and runny nose, no temperature at all. If I take a deep breath, my chest hurts and I cough, but again like the sort of cough where you need to bring something up.
Under normal circumstances, I would assume it was just a regular cold. I am not going into work in case and will see what my manager says. Do you think it could be coronavirus even though it isn't a 'dry' cough? Also no temp and have a runny nose which isn't mentioned as a symptom anywhere.

It sounds like the common cold but obviously better to be safe than sorry. Get well soon

My partner works in the NHS and he has gone to work as usual this morning. I was concerned due to all the guidelines- if I have to self isolate, really he should be. But as he says he cannot stay off if I just have a cold! I agree with this but am worried if it gets out I am isolating myself and he is going to work people will be angry about it. It is difficult to know what to do for the best.

Your partner is putting vulnerable people at risk by going to work.

You should both be self isolating due to your child's symptoms. You don't have a fever or persistent cough so your symptoms don't trigger self-isolation.

His manager has told their department to go in unless they have a cough or high temperature themselves. If everyone in the NHS self isolates due to someone in their house having a cold, who will look after the patients?

When my child was ill last week, the guidelines were not to self isolate the whole family, that is a new guideline announced.

This is why it is essential for NHS staff to be tested surely!

His manager is wrong and not following Government advice

I agree. I cannot understand why they can't take NHS staff temperatures at least as they enter work, and if it is raised, send them home.
Realistically though, I know what the government guidelines are but a lot of that is to look like they have a handle on the situation. If a lot of people end up in hospital with the virus, the staff will get it however hygenic everyone is been- they cannot self isolate after just being in contact with the patient as there would be no staff left to look after them. Also people are contagious before they show symptoms, so again once you have a temperature, it is probably too late.

I think a runny nose has been mentioned as a symptom, as has diahorrea , it’s all so unclear ! NHS staff should definitely all be tested now that’s for sure.

I have a runny nose and a slight upset tummy, not feverish as such but have come out in goosebumps a couple of times. I get hay fever so that could account for the runny nose, under normal circumstances I wouldn’t give this a second thought but now ....?

If anyone in your family has any potential symptoms, the whole family needs to isolate for 14 days..

I've got a sore throat and have lost my voice. I also have a headache. No fever though my temp is 34°
I'm coughing maybe 2 or 3 little coughs an hour.

I sneeze anyway due to allergic rhinitis

I have no idea whether I could have the virus or not. I've not been on public transport as I work from home anyway. Kids aren't on public transport. My DH uses public transport.

Not been near anyone AFAIK with the virus. Kids still at school (we're in Scotland)

We are socially distancing in that all activities are being shut down.

I don't feel that unwell. Just a sore throat really.

My DH is convinced I have the virus. I'm not!
