Are boarding schools closing?

Does anyone know about this?

Lots of children in close contact with each other. What happens if one of them develops symptoms?

Don't know of any local ones that are? I guess the same as a day school. If someone shows symptoms their parent has to collect them or their guardian if they are from overseas?

The one I work at isn't. Some of the overseas students have gone home though.

If someone develops symptoms they'll be isolated as per advice.

We are remaining open, and would keep boarding houses open even if school closed. However, many parents are making the choice to withdraw their children and get them home, which I completely understand!

I work in a school with a small amount of boarders (30) the international students have been told they can go home if the want to and are able to fly to. Some are leaving today and others in the coming days

The international students at our school were told to fly home (just ahead of Trump’s extension to include UK flights phew!). I have heard rumours that it will close on Friday thereby extending the Easter holidays by a week (and maybe extending by an extra week in to the new term). Currently just rumour though.

I know personally of 2 Singaporean pupils at different boarding schools here who are going back to Singapore any day now, but I haven’t heard that the schools are actually closing. I’ve heard more or less from the horse’s mouth, that a lot of Singaporean parents are bringing their children home, at least partly for fear of being unable to later. They will be required to stay at home for 14 days after their return.

One of them was due to take vitally important exams (Uni entrance) in May, so what’s going to happen about that, I don’t know.

One of the schools has a fair percentage of mainland Chinese pupils but what’s going on with those, I don’t know either.

What I do know is that many if not all of these were told that if they went home as usual for the fairly recent half term, they’d have to be quarantined for 14 days - not at the school - on their return. So many of them stayed, either with their official guardians here, or, if they didn’t have anyone in that official role, with the usual school-sanctioned (and presumably paid) hosts.
