I have a congenital heart condition (Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome), which causes episodes of very rapid heart rate upwards of 200bpm followed by episodes of irregular heart rate.

I’m usually in good health, short episodes daily lasting

Should clarify, the reason I’m unsure is because my condition effects me only episodically.

Heart conditions are mentioned. It doesn't specify which. I am in the same boat, conditions not mentioned by name. Have read something about it being if you are offered a seasonal flu vaccine, which I am but so are A LOT of people. Surely not everybody can do 12 weeks?

PinkyU · 16/03/2020 19:14

It’s so confusing isn’t it?

Charities are offering specific advice to their patient groups BHF for example

YeOldeTrout · 16/03/2020 19:21

I can see why you're confused, OP. Can you do aerobic sport fine? The folk who tend to be most at risk are those who might not be able to breathe well or get oxygen around their body.

Laks0007 · 16/03/2020 19:23

OP have you not been referred for ablation?

hellolittlebaby · 16/03/2020 19:24

Does your doctor usually recommend you get a flu jab? If so, that could be a good indicator that you're a higher risk group

Ms82 · 16/03/2020 19:27

Was wondering the same, I'm an asthmatic, type 2 diabetic with hypertension and had a suspected heart attack last year. Would I be viewed as at risk? I am eligible for a flu jab but didn't get it this year as I was so ill and I then forgot to rebook. Thanks.

PinkyU · 16/03/2020 19:31

No, aerobic exercise is one of the stimulus that triggers the tachycardia, struggle walking up a hill at a moderate pace.

I’ve had ablation (had an additional 4 bundles) which managed 2, the other two were located too close to my SA node to ablate safely. I’m managed with bb and anti arrhythmias.

Yes, I’m called for an annual flu vaccine (I’m actually a bit rubbish at going for it however as I’ve been youthfully stupid in previous years, I’m in my early 30’s).

Yes, I'd say you 'qualify' to isolate.
I think I heard Chris Witty say that at risk groups would be notified by end of the week.

lljkk · 16/03/2020 19:40

You deffo qualify OP. Sorry.

TheSpottedZebra · 16/03/2020 19:41

^ to be clear, that was the opinion of an internet random -im not a medic!

PerspicaciaTick · 16/03/2020 19:44

I don't know either, I'm finding it confusing. I have Lupus (in remission mild enough to not need medication), reduce lung capacity (due to pneumonia/pleurisy decades ago) and have hypertension. But my GP doesn't think I need the flu jab so I'm clearly not viewed as risky for that.

Dementedswan · 16/03/2020 19:44

Sounds like you are in that group op. Sorry. My dh is too, his work have already instructed him to work from home, buy equipment he needs to se up an office and they will reimburse. The question I've got is do the rest of need to isolate with him? Common sense says yes.... but the kids still have to go to school? It's all very vague. Hope you are ok.

Dementedswan · 16/03/2020 19:45

Rest of the family... that should say

PinkyU · 16/03/2020 20:04

I feel like I knew it was coming tbh, what do I do about the lo’s and school, it’s only me who can take them?

If I was in an at risk group, I would keep my DC and family in isolation with me I think. It seems too contagious to allow them to get it and bring it home. The logistics of a whole family staying inside for 12 weeks is unfathomable. I guess that you don't have elderly relatives that you could isolate with? Leave your partner to manage the DC.

planningaheadtoday · 16/03/2020 22:20

I read that the advice for Co-morbidities is, if you qualify for the NHS annual
Flu vaccine you are in the vulnerable group.
