My 9 year old took it upon herself to make "profiteroles" this morning. Didn't know whether to bollock her or cheer her to the rooftops.

8yo, we're in lockdown
So far:

Cooking
Cleaning
Minecraft
Netflix
Some homework (they don't have much at all)
Legos
Some tablet
Reading
Science experiments
Big cave/fort under the dining table

We're going to make signs for our window s to cheer the streets up!

  • We're in Spain ** Hence bugger all homework Grin * Yes he does help clean, loves being in charge of the mop!

We home school so not a huge change for us except no HE groups and clubs.
We aren't doing a huge amount of school at the moment because I've called an Early Easter break.
Yoga
Morning basket
Gardening with me
Lots of free play
Now out in the garden
Later I suspect she will probably do some crafting.
Then it will be screen time before Dinner and our usual evening routine.

We're in Denmark. School is sending work through each day via an existing app. My first language is not Danish and I am a very impatient person. This is pure torture.
We try to get some exercise first thing (we are not locked in our houses). So we have been on a long walk to the beach and have collected some frogspawn from a pond on the way back for a nature project.
We have then done maths, danish, english, for both children and history for one of them.
I am going crazy. What glue can you use to stick a child to a chair?
Now I am doing my work for the day and the children are watching the box.

MmeAlice go all non-PC and play 'cowboys and Indians and lasso DC to a chair Grin

We've made treasure hunts for each other just by drawing pictures.
Done some science projects and logged the results - make some interesting posters for his wall.
Lego movie on the tablet.
Reading challenges: write instructions on cards, then shuffle them and pick one, eg: read on your bed, read in the bath, read upside down, read to your toys. Something I stole from Dr Seuss.

Currently playing untitled goose game its teaching them problem solving but there cooperative skills clearly need work Hmm

Devlesko · 16/03/2020 14:15

it's amazing what they can learn through play, without realising it.
We used to H.ed but mine went to school for secondary.
If it wasn't GCSE year and mine was little again we'd be doing some of the above mentioned.
Is anyone getting their kids out in the fresh air before we become isolated (UK) I know others already are.
