Should you self-isolate if you were in contact with someone who has been diagnosed?

Does it matter how close and when the contact was?

Seems sensible to me. How close and how long for was the contact?

TwelveIslands · 16/03/2020 11:22

Yes, of course! You could be wandering around giving it to everyone you meet!

Doyoumind · 16/03/2020 11:22

Yes.

VortexofBloggery · 16/03/2020 11:24

I would, for 7 days to be sure.

Gov guidelines are some one with symptoms should but no one else at the same moment?.

In a few weeks when they roll in the next phase they will ask wholesale families to isolate.

Herja · 16/03/2020 11:27

I would. But I'm a student and my uni is shutting at the end of day tomorrow for a month.

If I was working and relied on the money, it would probably depend... family member, neighbour etc I'd spent 15 minutes or more within 2 metres, I would. Knowing that the postman had it and I'd said hello to him yesterday, I'd probably not.

According to government advice - no unless you yourself are displaying symptoms.
Morally? If able to then do

Yes, please self isolate in case you're infected. People are very infectious early on when they may not show symptoms yet.
