I'm getting angry at the thought of people profiting from selling formula on Facebook and eBay. Is it illegal to profit from a crisis? I'm sure I read it was illegal in some countries but I can't find the answer for the UK.

My understanding is that is falls foul of the Competition Act 1998 - specifically the elements covering unreasonable profits.

There are plenty of people guilty of it, though. I needed to source sterillium (a medical grade sanitiser) for a sick dog to prevent his specific bacterial strain passing to humans and make his medication more effective. I had to pay £100 for a litre of it because I could't find it anywhere else for less. Usual price is around £10-20 I think.

Much like the black cabs jacking up the prices during terror attacks in London.
