What will you do for childcare if schools close?

Not trying to spark another debate on whether or not they should close, just thinking of the practicalities, if they shut from, say, April til the new academic year in August/September? We are lucky as my job is PT and mostly WFH anyway, DH can WFH if need be and is from now on. So we can work around each other (though not necessarily too productively as our DC are young primary and we don't have much space). But if that wasn't the case we have no family who could help out and the grandparents are either still of working age themselves (one an NHS worker) or 70+ with health conditions.

I don't know. I have no one. And I'm a single parent so mine is the only household income.

I'm more stressed about this than I am about catching the virus.

Luckily my parents are under 70 and fit. They already have DS two days per week, if nursery closes, they’ll likely have him all three. DH is likely to be at home soon too as I can’t see his place of work staying open much longer.

I'm thankful that dh works in a school. Years of grumbling about the low pay and the restrictions on when we can holiday pale now as I'm able to just not worry about the childcare. It's one less thing to have to consider.

Even though I can wfh, my DD is only 9 months so I can't wfh if also looking after her. What would probably happen is DD and I would go and stay with my parents (who are both in their 50s), my mum is a teacher so she'd be off work and we'd look after DD together.
